Martin David Ginsburg, husband of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, died Sunday at his home in Washington, D.C., due to complications from metastatic cancer, a press release from Court spokeswoman Kathy Arberg said.

He was 78 years old.

Ginsburg was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., in 1932. He was a Professor of Law at Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C. He earned an A.B. from Cornell University, which was where he met future Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg in 1951. The two were married in June of 1954 on Long Island, N.Y.

When Ruth Bader Ginsburg was appointed to the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit in 1980 and the family moved to Washington, D.C., Martin Ginsburg joined the faculty of the Georgetown University Law Center.

He was also co-author, with Jack S. Levin, of “Mergers, Acquisitions, and Buyouts,” a semi-annually updated tax guide.

Ginsburg is survived by his wife and his two children, Jane Carol Ginsburg and James Steven Ginsburg. He is also survived by four grandchildren.

A private interment service will be held at Arlington National Cemetery.

Maybe he's a veteran? I dunno. I do think the spouse of a Supreme Court Justice would qualify.

I figured it would have been something like that. I also think that because he is the spouse of a Supreme Court Justice that he qualifies.
