I'm getting really frustrated with my hands, well the skin on my hands. I've used multiple lotions and some have worked and others haven't, and some I have grown allergic to. It seems my skin is very sensitive... I've used Eucerin, and it worked for a while, and then I broke out in hives after awhile... I am currently using Neutrogena, and that worked for a while, but now it seems I am starting to pick up an allergy to it... Does anyone know of a good hypoallergenic lotions that could possibly work?

I do not know if it is hypoallergenic or not but I have used bag balm on my babies for all kinds of rashes.
http://www.bagbalm.com/ or search the net, I found this one, never tried it personally. http://dermasillabs.com/ and if your hands are allergic to something try to figure out what it is, Benedryl makes a good gel ointment to use on your hands. |

Cetaphil lotion and soap works for me. It was recomended to me by a dermatologist. I have really sensitive skin too. I can't use "real" soap on anything but my hands. I also seem to be allergic to most household chemicals, laundry soap and such. The lotion seems to promote healing at an faster rate.
Appearently I born a few hundred years too early. I'm supposed to be on a spacestation or starship 'cause damn near everything on Earth I'm allergic to. |

Thanks for all these suggestions, I will definitely check them out and give them a try. Hopefully one of these will work. My hands are about to get as bad as they were a few months ago, when I started using the Neutrogena. My dad and stepmom got it for me, since my grandmother had the same issues as I did with having a lot of allergies to many of the lotions, and it worked for her, and it worked wonders for me, but now my hands are starting to break out in hives when I use it. Gets frustrating sometimes for me.

Chicken fat or that bucket of bacon drippings should help.
I have hell with my skin. I work in a heavily ozonated environment and the effect is identical to fire or rusting. (Basically the exact same chemical process but at a lower speed) One of my friends who underwent chemo n radiation gave me some prescription lotion and it works great but the label was stripped off so I don't know the name. Ill ask her. |

Well, I'm a guy, so I don't know anything about lotions, but I can tell you that what you need is vitamin E. Vitamin E is good for maintaining the skin, and can be applied direct (or at least Mom used too). If you don't want to take those pills, eat some almonds. Two handfuls are enough to give you a full daily allowance of Vitamin E.

Get an ounce of Calendula leaves, soak in one cup of the best olive oil or almond oil you can afford for a week. Strain. Warm it up and melt bee's wax into it, a fair amount, I can't tell you because I never measure it. Let cool. Apply at night before bedtime. It's recommended for diaper rash. The calendula leaves have healing and anti-inflammatory properties. The oil and wax will help keep natural moisture.
