Alright I was looking around a few dating sites and I have done some searches through many months and even years before.
The weird thing is..I have seen the same faces at multiple times at more than 3-4 places..and that's fine, since at least they are trying, but what gets me, that I have seen them at times way back like 5 years ago? And ever since at least I had 1-2 relationships and 6-7 dates and so on. Alright..so it's still fine, whatever, not everyone has the same luck etc etc...BUT I have emailed a good portion of them..and anyone who knows me, knows me enough that I won't send out stupid mails, neither nasty mails and so on, but these women never responded not even a "no thanks" or anything. I wonder if they respond to anyone else? Sometimes I get the feeling, that they aren't even real people?

I mean..come on..some of them are like a "class of 78" school album shot or something..others are at least 5 years old pictures since I saw the same ones 5 years ago, otherwise I wouldn't have recognize them. WTF? |

 JUST kidding ... I hear ya .. I have friends on line who keep the same pic up like forever.  I've online dated for 6 yrs now, met probably 80+ people during that time (in person) and had 3 pretty LTR's thru all that. I've totally changed out my pics in that time .. heck it's 6 years of living eh?  |

I think that a lot of times, people just move on and abandon their account, and the folks that run these sites do absolutely nothing to clean it up. If they did, people wouldn't join because there wouldn't be any profiles to look at. I know that sounds negative and pessimistic, but it seems to me that it has got to be the case.

I would imagine most people figure out in time that dating sites are a waste of time & like someone else said they abandon their accounts. On this site alone there are only 6 women active in my state on here out of 14 pages of results but this is a small site. I'm sure it's not too much different on other sites, larger sites may have more active members.

 hey guys ive been on here ever since it was justsayhi.. i never came here looking to HQQKup with someone special.. i had just moved back to indiana n being an avid horse person i was just looking for someone [male/ female] who liked riding horses and camping.. n until recently had forgotten all about mingle2 .. only because ...i actually found someone HERE. n was with him for 3 yrs.. well we re still friends . n i have met a whole lot of GOOD people here. both male n female.. so YAH.. mingle.. so see in a way it pays to mingle.. although would be nice to have CHAT .. like some of the other sites. buttttttttttttttt those other horsepeople sites are NOT free |

No no..I'm talking about profiles which aren't abandoned. I can cleary see they logged in again. Unless of course, the dating sites collect abandoned accounts and keep them "alive". It wouldn't surprise me..hell I could even just start up a dating site, collect money by posting a bunch of fake profiles from abandoned accounts or made up people.

Your thread just reminded me of a site I got on a 2 years ago when I was first introduced to this online dating thing.
I made one pen pal there and we still say in touch but I've never gone back in there, now I'm going to go get rid of that account. I hated it, awful site. Guess it was to make a new friend and nothing more, I'll do that right now actually. Thanks for the reminder...

I don't know if they're real or not, but what I DO know is that I never got a reply from any of them after I sent a first e-mail. And I understand the whole thing of not replying to "Hey baby wanna mess around?" epistles -- but, hey, I've written 4 books and I do know my way around a run-on sentence, and you'd think that would count for something in this crazy mixed-up world. But, apparently, it does not. So, for now, I will jump on your bandwagon and just assume they are NOT real! I feel like a victorious ostrich! |

Take me for instance, I come and go, that's how the computer programs me to keep the women coming back to this site. They take one look and go "RO is here too, this must be a cool place." It's like site to site advertising, but in a more subtle manner.
My programming even allows for me to send out polite and mildly flirtatious solicitations so that I appear more real. All of which brings in more people. Now the trick is keeping real people from talking to each other. |

It depends on the site, I have a friend who joined a site but left it 4 months ago and her profile still shows up and says ONLINE NOW! Hey maybe some of you don't really exist. It's probably Ladylid and a few others logged on simultaneously with different accounts and ther are about only 3-4 people on this site including me!  Melody is actually Krupa! Fade2Black is totage! I deactivated and unsubbed my self from the other dating sites I was on but still get emails, so a profile may not be totally gone for all I know. And to the other horsey person on here, it sucks that the horse single sites cost. |
