Yeah, I understand the feeling, we have the one poster who constantly bangs the "Only a theory" drum, after having it explained to them multiple times, by multiple people.
The reason I keep going back isn't for the fundies we have to argue with, it's for the person on the fence, who's reading the posts, but not replying to them. |

I think that Sam Harris said it best:
"Atheism is the sound reasonable people make when faced with religious dogma." |

There's never much new under the sun when it comes to religion, but if your discourse acts like a catalyst, many times you'll see the wonders of human narcissism raised to the highest power manifest itself in a form you hadn't considered before. It could be worse. Suppose you're the first bonobo chimp to be able to read and comprehend human language. Then you're given the Bible and Darwin's Origin of Species to read, having it revealed unto you that you share almost ALL of your DNA sequences with the same stooopid humans who were deeded dominion over you for acting like gorillas on meth for much of their history. How much would THAT suck? :) -Kerry O. |

I should know all the answers by know, and i do... but i still ask the questions. One does get tired of "dancing w/ morons"... The phrase "pearls before swine" comes to mind. There is nothing so hard as to get a true believer to admit the possibility that they may be wrong. |

There is nothing so hard as to get a true believer to admit the possibility that they may be wrong. I find a lot of irony in being told that I'm arrogant for not believing this billion galaxy universe was "created" just for us. There's a great science fiction short story by Asaac Asimov. It was about a robot that was first turned on in a space station. It immediatly believed in "God" and believed the whole universe WAS the space station. The stars outside were merely a picture put over the windows by "God" to test the faithful. I love Asimov. |
