What does a graduation card that deals with the SOLAR SYSTEM have to do with RACISM ... ? Well, according to the assshats at the NAACP [sic], the Solar System has ... 'black whores' in it ... ! And they wonder why people think they're irrelevant ... Who remembers when they got their drawers in a wad over the use of the word 'niggardly' ... ? Effin' idiots. They hear what they CHOOSE to hear. Their behavior and ignorance does 'em in every time ... 'tolearance' and 'intelligence' are NOT vocabulary words in their agenda's 'dictionary'. This is too unbelievable for words ... yet it's real ... and the worst part ... ? Hallmark caved it to this idiocy.

NAACP calls Hallmark graduation card racist

Wednesday, June 02, 2010 | Miriam Hernandez

CULVER CITY, Calif. (KABC) -- A graduation card sold at local stores has been pulled from shelves after a civil rights group raised concerns about the content. The group claims the card's micro-speaker plays a greeting that's racist.

It is a graduation greeting from Hallmark that says, "Hey world, we are officially putting you on notice."

Members of the Los Angeles NAACP did take notice. As characters known as "Hoops" and "Yoyo" banter on, African American leaders hear offensive language.

"And you black holes, you are so ominous. Watch your back," the card vocalizes.

"That was very demeaning to African American women. When it made reference to African American women as whores and at the end, it says 'watch your back,'" said Leon Jenkins of the Los Angeles NAACP.

When Hallmark was reached by phone, they said the card is all a misunderstanding. The card's theme is the solar system and emphasizes the power of the grad to take over the universe, even energy-absorbing black holes.

The card company says the card speaks about the power the grad will wield.

"The intent here is to say that this graduate is not afraid of anything," explained Hallmark spokesman Steve Doyal.

But that's not what some people heard.

"You hear the 'r' in there. 'Whores,' not, 'holes.' The 'r' is in there," said Minnie Hatley of the Los Angeles NAACP.

Hallmark sent Eyewitness News a transcript of what the card says, but Hatley says that the actual audio raises questions.

"It sounds like a group of children laughing and joking about blackness, again," said another NAACP member.

Hallmark is now notifying all of its stores to pull the card. Walgreens and CVS are doing the same. "In any situation where there is a circumstance that we need to be sensitive to, we try to learn from that experience," said Doyal.

However, NAACP members say they do not want to see the card on store shelves ever again.

With everything going on in the US right now the NAACP has the nads to pull this *hit. This accusation is utterly ludicrous, they must be running short on stuff to worry about!

I don't think only a few "members" got hallmark to pull this.

no, its quite different. The NAACP is national,, this is the members of one branch in one city.

read my last post, then dispute. It says civil rights group, not branch or division of a civil rights group.

I am not attempting to dispute you, just to clarify. The NAACP is a NATIONAL ORGANIZATION with many branches. This article alludes to ONE BRANCH of the organization

Mexico and Canada dont have the same history that USA does. THey have rights groups for THEIR historically oppressed or discriminated against though,, I guarantee,,,,

NAACP still organizes events to highlight minorities and provides support and encouragement to the young minorities as well as guidance,,,,because people choose not to be a part of it,,,they usually dont even attempt to learn about any of the things it is doing and are quick to speak ill of it

I'd love to believe your guarantee but, I'm skeptical.

Could you show us please, what groups, like naaap Mexico and Canada have for defending the rights of their historically oppressed or discriminated against.

Especially Mexico's.

of course, the type of oppression and the type of government varies , even the demographics,,,,in such a way that the EXACT same wording or base description isnt used but these are still examples of people organizing to work towards creating more fairness and equality

ok, then I am not going to "allude" to it, I'm going to tell it like it is. This is the biggest crock I've read about in a while. Their reasoning is based on the feelings they have...nothing else. They want to hear it; therefore, they heard it. I played the sound clip and I never heard it. Hallmark also made it look like they were guilty by complying to their wants.

I'll say it agin; Outlaw the antiquated National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. They are racially biased and that's not conducive to today's society.

I heard this on TV the other night.
The guy was trying to win the gal and told her," I have a secure job. I can't be fired, I'm a minority."slaphead:laughing:
So true.sad

I dont see immigrants from mexico being the new negro,, they have much more political power and support than negros had,,,,in the door

they still have the direct tie to their 'home' country and culture

they even have the financial power to make it almost mandatory that americans in the southern states adapt to their language and culture to make profits,,,,

I am sure they still face the same individual bigotry and racism on account of their asthetic features though,,,
