In this case, Wiki is actually pretty accurate. My daughter loves this genre for the artistic element...even went to a Steampunk costume party a few months ago when on a vacation. Most of the costumes or art pieces I've seen utilize old gears, keys, metal parts from (?) - lots of things that might have come from a mechanical device blended with the Victorian element. There are tons of photos on the internet to browse and as many interpretations of this as there are of almost any other such genre. It's pretty interesting, though.

There's a really excellent computer role-playing game titled- Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura. It's set in a steampunk universe. It looks like it takes place in Victorian times with the clothing, furnishings, buildings. But there are also Elves, and other fantasy elements. You can choose to use either magic, or technology and build guns, and even robots. Or use both. Traveling you can take a train, or if you have magic you can teleport.
