Topic: good news-H.R. 54444 and 4995 | |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Legitimate reform starts with the principles found in two new bills introduced by Ron Paul. H.R. 4995, the End the Mandate Act, repeals the recently-passed federal mandate requiring Americans to carry government-approved health insurance. And just this past Thursday, Congressman Paul introduced H.R. 5444, the “Private Option Health Care Act,” which would completely repeal ObamaCare and replace it with free market solutions. In sharp contrast to mandates and force, H.R. 5444 would: Provide all Americans with a tax credit for 100% of health care expenses. The tax credit is fully refundable against both income and payroll taxes; Allow individuals to roll over unused amounts in cafeteria plans and Flexible Savings Accounts (FSA); Provide a tax credit for premiums for high-deductible insurance policies connected with Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) and allow seniors to use funds in HSAs to pay for medigap policies; Repeal the 7.5% threshold for the deduction of medical expenses, thus making all medical expenses tax deductible; Guarantee individuals can purchase health insurance across state lines; Permit a tax credit for negative outcomes insurance purchased before medical treatment, reducing expensive malpractice suits; Reduce barriers to importing FDA-approved prescription drugs. |

He's the most principled member of congress-he even donates a portion of his yearly salary back to the treasury. He got his nickname (Dr. No) by consistently opposing unconstitutional propositions. He's also written several important books, including "The Case For Gold" and "A Foreign Policy Of Peace". |

RP has a LOT of baggage in the way that he'll need to remove before he can be effective ... these two bills have the 'feel-good' thing down pat, but hey, that's just lifting a trick from the liberal playbook - they got that one down cold a long time ago ... Little RP's gonna have to do some heavy liftin' to be an effective rep ...

Just remember what Ron Paul said about the LA riots in 1992. He callied the African American rioters "Barbarians" and "The only reason the riots stopped is because it was time for the blacks to pick up their welface checks."
Yea, this guy is a real piece of work. |

Little RP's gonna have to do some heavy liftin' to be an effective rep ... Depends on what you mean by "effective". His grassroots education and activism campaign has already done a lot of important work. I don't foresee a decent candidate like RP winning the Presidency until the majority of voters are no longer ignorant welfare addicts (at least several generations from now) but the education campaign is useful in getting the libertarian message out. ![]() |

Yea, this guy is a real piece of work. That what ghostwritten in a newsletter that bore his name. He did not write that. Those articles were even published without an author attribution. Of course, this kind of smear against him became popular in 2007-8 because he challenged the establishment effectively. |

Actually, it was his personal newsletter and not only that me made the comment about the welfare thing to a damn journalists. Paul had some of the best(and top paid) spin doctors in the country working on his campaign, and they polished a lot of **** that he has done or supported up. The fact that it did happen, his people just put a nice enough spin on it so it didn't taste as bad going down. |

Democrats wanted Paul to win because they could have then used it to further tie the Republican Party to racism(not to mention he would be an easy defeat). |

These bills WILL be vetoed by 'The ONE', so even if they were, miraculously, to pass the vote count, they'd still be vetoed when they hit 'Wonder Boy's desk. RP wouldn't be able to put together enough votes to override. THAT's what I mean by 'effective'. I will agree that he has had some good IMPULSES - which is NOT to say he's had a lot of great IDEAS. He's still on the political fringes and doesn't have enough support to be a major player. He can be a 'spoiler', but he's not gonna be a heavy hitter. Tell ya what - I'll consider him a major player IF he can push through his plan to AUDIT THE FED. I support that, but neither he nor anyone else is gonna force Bernanke to open the books at the Amerikanische Zentralbank. RP will not, his protests to the contrary aside, ever be anything but a spoiler and a third-party fringe candidate. |

RP is much more useful as an educator and liberty activist. |
