alright, i am trying to learn the whole lango of comps and as it turns out...for a genius anyway, i know pretty much that you push this and this turns on (yay shiny lights)
i was wondering if anyone could recommend a good magazine or maybe a book or a website that could help me not look like an idiot when facing a comp (which is bad, cuz i am a genius) |

Yeah, sure. http://www.computerhope.com/ start there for basics, and if you have more specific problems, the computer discussion forum at craigslist.org is not so bad a spot either.

try the Comp Tia website. They sponsor the A+ hardware and software certification and you might be able to garner a text. Or get the A+ Essentials Video. Def stick with Comptia, Microsoft or linux sites & messages boards. Avoid the sliders and amateurs.
Also the manuals that come with the academic versions of Microsoft Office - if you have any friends who have recently taken classes they might loan you the text. Magazinez - ComputerWorld dot com with the emphasis on .com also read the message boards on microsoft support good luck |

There's a couple good sites...
TechNet of the more advanced Windows disasters http://technet.microsoft.com/en-gb/default.aspx ITWorld is pretty awesome too http://www.itworldcanada.com/ (Not sure if there's an American site...) And if all else fails www.thinkgeek.com Enjoy n00b, see how that works |
