Topic: Got a new job! | |
---|---|
So I was hired by our Governor's re-election campaign. I am in a management position.
I have consulted for years for local level elections, and helped on statewide and national campaigns, but nothing like this. I am pretty nervous because it's a lot of responsibility that I haven't had before on a campaign. Wish me luck! LOL |

Excellent! All you can do is just take a deep breath and step into the void. Then all will unfold and you will see it isn't as challenging in the ways you might anticipate. Politics is a strange dance I will admit and a lot does not make sense even to me. If you are a really social person than you should do very well. What it sounds like to me is you will be dealing with cash flow, advertising, setting up meetings and implementing actions through your staff like any managerial position.
Don't sweat it! Think of it this way, you are helping directly to clean up the mess we are in thanks to the clowns in WDC! That gets proper respect from me! And to think some people on this site think all we do is sit in front of computers and complain. to those who issue that criticism especially in your direction can just go themselves!!! I have seen some of what you have had to say and I can guess you are working for a candidate that didn't drag us into Obamacare? |

Organizing volunteers to make calls and walk precincts. Find events. Work events. Find sign locations. Put up signs. All on top of what you listed. I also know there is a lot more that I am leaving out. Governor Gibbons was one of the Governors to order the AG to file suit over it. He refused the Stimulus crap and opposed Obamacare. |

Sincere wishes for you. My nephew is a lobbyist. The biggest difficulty one can have with the job is-!- not portraying your own political insights on who is best for the job, or what the party wants. It's more like you have to do whats the right concensious-ness (sp?) Can you do that? Thats the people we are looking for to excel the ones in congress who make way too much money and have no empathy for those who suffer....even to the point that their neighbors are having a rough time. PLEASE grow into this job, remember ...it isn't about you at all, unless you are part of the solution....and if you're not... you're part of the problem (RZ).

Thanks all. I've got a lot of respect for this man. To give you a little insite he was a Frighter Pilot for the Air Force, then the Air Guard. When he got into politics in the 80's he got elected to the state assembly, he was still in the Air Guard and when Desert Storm happened he could have taken a pass because of his elected office, but stepped down from his position and went to the Middle East and flew missions over Iraq. That right there told me a lot about his character.
If that is not an example of putting your country first and integrity then I dont know what is. |

Thanks for all the well wishes. I am sure I will be posting more about the job, it might help me vent since I probably don't want my punching bag in the office.

So I just had my first day and got my office almost set up. I can tell you this job is better by far then what I have been doing for the last decade. I guess everything does happen for a reason.
I will not miss having to fight people on a daily basis to get them into custody for stealing a bottle of liquor or a package of meat or have to worry about being stabbed again, jumped again or even having a gun pulled on me again. it's funny, I still have full video of almost all of the incidents and I can't bring myself to watch most of them. I think this will be a walk in the park. |
