OREGON CITY, Ore. -- Prosecutors showed graphic pictures in court Thursday in what they called one of the worst child abuse cases they've ever seen.

Assault, criminal mistreatment and reckless endangerment charges against 23-year-old Derek Piskorski stem from the alleged abuse of a 3-year-old boy. Piskorski was dating the child's mother.

Piskorski was accused of pouring scalding water over the child's neck, shoulders and back of his head, causing severe burns. He's also accused of putting the 3-year-old boy into a freezer.

In court Thursday, state prosecutors showed very graphic pictures of the boy's injuries. The child was treated at the hospital for a week and was living with relatives.

Investigators said the abuse happened between December and January.

The child's mother, Katey Scheurman, pleaded guilty last month for failure to intervene and sentenced to 180 days in jail along with three years' probation.

Piskorski's trial was being determined by a judge rather than a jury.

The sad thing is that there are a lot of super depraved and absolutely Effed up people out there. If that was my kid I would have spared the tax payer and dealt with the azzhole myself. People like this really do not deserve to live! If they are that wrong in the head the only thing they are worth is to be used in cruel medical experimentation!

Like I said before people put WAY too much priority on human life. A criminal is one thing but this behavior is WAY past criminal!mad

I can't believe they are only giving her that little amount of
time. Even if she didn't do any of it, she allowed it to happen.
Maybe not the first time, but after that as she didn't do anything
about it and didn't take any precautions to have it not happen
again. As Andy said, I too would have handled it myself, until the
police arrived, and they could arrest what was left. I've always
said that, for starters, whatever was done to the child, should
be done to them.

There is a higher power out there that will punish these people.

Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written, "VENGEANCE IS MINE, I WILL REPAY," says the Lord.

Romans 12:19

I normally agree with and live by that, except for the children.
When it comes down to something so heinous being done against
your babies, sometimes you just can't help it, there comes such
a rage from within. I know, I was brought up in Christian values
myself, and you're supposed to forgive, and let God handle it,
but even the most devout and gentle can slip with something so
personal, something that can rip at the very core of your heart
and soul. I for one can laugh at what people do or say for the
most part, even against me, but not towards my mom or kids.
