In the first attempt at organic gardening the plants just reproduce themselves. But then when Adam and Eve are added they have to be told to be fruitful. Whats up with that?

because they're so badly genetically modified they don't breed true anymore.

Actually, I can see cowboy's point here. It very well could be the INTENDED meaning. I see "fruitful" not necessarily as doing God's will, but just being productive in general. Example: "Will this plan bear fruit?" meaning to ask if a particular course of action will be successful.

and that is when logic can be applied...the original post was about why Adam and Eve had to be told to be fruitful when the organic plants didn't

Cowboy said it mean fruits of Labor ....so logically why would God refer to labor when Adam and Eve's labor would lead to the human race falling from grace

if God told them before the fall from grace then this only proves that God is not omniscient and didn't know that Adam and Eve would bite from the fruit

if God told them after they fell from grace then what would be the point since their labors have already condemn the human race

this is why if to "be fruitful and multiply" was referring to labors...then it was referring to labor pains

but "Rainbow Trout" question was why did they have to be told to reproduce and this would mean that God command their bodies to do it or they didn't have lust or the desire to reproduce because God deemed lust to be an abomination

sex without lust is truely a labor
