Here's a little tidbit about BP and Gov. overlooking things for the big bucks. Wonder which politicians got paid to look the other way? http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2010/may/02/bp-deepwater-horizon-oil-spills BP spends millions lobbying as it drills ever deeper and the environment pays The oil major BP spends aggressively to influence US regulatory insight, and many would argue this has bought it leniency |

Accidents are going to happen from time to time. Before you scream bloody murder over this oil spill you might want to look at the long record and hundreds of thousands of boat trips arcross the ocean full of oil that has not had a mishap.Do you think it would have been a great idea when the Exxon valdez ran a ground to ban all boats carrying crude oil because they might have a accident?
The key to to both progress and moving forward is to take make things safer not to ban them every time you have a accident. After the Exxon valdez disaster it was madatory to make oil cargo ships double hulled. You can also make oil platforms safer by looking at this accident and figuring out what you can do to improve it.I think a no brainer idea would to put a simple wheel valve at the lowest point on the main pipe so a diver or a robot can simply shut it off if it happends to break anywhere above the ocean floor. |

except that the average life expectancy was like 40 my suggestion is to convert to natural gas. 95% of all the natural gas we use comes from America. |
