All we see of someone at any moment is a snapshot of their life at that particular moment. It does not show us the millions of other moments... times of poverty, riches, joy, despair, ups and downs, moments of glory, elation, loss, pain, happiness, kindness, or the millions of decisions and choices that have led up to that one moment we happen to see.

Do we judge based on that particular moment we are seeing? Should we judge at all based on one moment? Are you able to put yourself in another's shoes..so to speak. Or simply go by what your seeing at that moment?

Kinda what I do too...I know that has to be more to one that what we see at any given moment. After all, I tended bar for 8 years, if I judged by that drunken stupor..well, there's just no way that I could.

I'll tell you who loves being judgmental more than anybody! The FOX network!!!! Let's see. In the daytime they run judge shows all day long, so people can sit there and think how much better they are than the "stupid people" on the shows. In prime time, there staple program is 'American Idol', a show with a panel of judges to judge people's ability. Then at late night, they roll out 'TMZ' a show that judges celebrities as if they were a carnival attraction.

I usually give a person more than the first impression. I figure if you continue to do the same thing that is how you are.

And the extent of my judgement is usually to leave it alone unless it is a serious offense like prejudice or attacking someone who cannot defend themselves and then I make judgement and people will see my ire.

Well, it's like when you see someone and they always "act" happy, so one would normally conclude that this person is happy go lucky all the time. But what if that person is just hiding pain and you just can't see it because they don't allow to show? You think that person has it all together, when in reality they probably might need a helping hand, or just someone to talk to. It's really hard to say.

I wait and see who the person really is. I don't want to assume they are this way, or that way. Yeah, normally I can tell if someone is just a natural prick or biatch, but I still try to see if maybe there is more to that person. I dunno. I think one problem in this world is that we all tend to judge each other rather quickly. We make assumptions about who someone is without really knowing them. He is a Republican? Oh, he must love Sean Hannity so therefore I hate him. She believs in abortion? Baby killer. She should rot in hell. He doesn't believe in God? What a dumbazz! These are just examples of how society does judge things. Pretty sad if ya ask me.

Maybe so but I really don't want this to turn into a political thread... I'm attempting to make a point about NOT JUDGING...there are enough of those threads..alright brother flowerforyou

I think it's natural to do that..probably most do. You do understand there is more and that's the important part.

You're awesome!

Yeah, I don't buy into the first impression thing...ya never know what's going on with someone. Tough to make a total judgment on a first glance. One could just be having a really lousy day..
I agree that it's really not my call to judge anyway. Live and let live. If their not doing anything to me, or an obvious screw up..who cares anyway.

just being honest. its in human nature to form opinions within what is it first 3-5 seconds but we also do posses another gift (one of many i must add), a gift of reason, some use it some don't....

the good book that i don't follow but like to quote says "judge not, lest ye be judged."

or something like that.
