I started working out about a week ago. I've lost over 11 pounds so far. Since I'm losing weight, I've noticed I'm getting a bit flabby, on the belly, sides, and in the chest regions.

I've built up some muscle and I can already see my arms starting to bulk up a bit. My belly has gotten a little smaller, but of course it's taking a bit more time to get into shape in that region.

How can I lose that flab in the belly and sides? I'm not so worried about the chest, because I can tell that muscle is building there, but the belly and sides is where I need to lose the flab.

Will that flab go away as I continue to workout?

No worries brother... Just keep it up. It usually takes about 6 months to see real results from such a life-altering change... And remember, you have to keep working out, or otherwise... it will revert back to the original. You'll realize that once you get into the groove, that it's hard not to work out. Fitness is very addictive.

That's what I was thinking. I'm still in the excitement stage. I just hope that I stick with it.

Seems the stomach is the first place it goes and the last place it leaves... a couple years ago when I was working with a trainer I would bug him to have me do stuff to work my stomach. He would say to me..there is too much fat there, I'm just going to keep you working the entire body including machines and free weights that would work the core and eventually it will affect the stomach. It finally did with great results..it took 2 months, Even with 2 hour workouts 6 days a week. The real tricky part has been keeping up, the maintenance.
Just hang in there, it will happen. flowerforyou

I've been doing the Gold's Gym Home Circuit. It's seems to be working great. I also have a pedal exerciser I use. I've been workingout and exercising 6 days a week.

I already feel better about myself. I have also noticed much less depression and anxiety. I can sleep better as well.

ah, that's great. I have see you post about your depression...
The working out really does help with that, it releases endorphins and makes us feel better naturally. For me in the spring and summer hiking and climbing the mountain really helps me. It's a great full body work out and being in nature always makes me feel better anyway.

Glad your feeling better, now you have 2 reasons to keep working out.

oh, I do so much miss the beach sometimes. I lived on the beach back east..but while there I missed the mountains. I realized when I came back out here that I need to live in the mountains.

One thing about hiking and climbing in the mountains, it is a total body work out. When your pulling yourself up the side of a mountain you are using your entire body. Once ya get to the top the view is so spectacular...I have one place I want to get to the top off before the end of summer, it's a real azz kicker. I get over half way up and haven't been able to go on.

There's a place around here called Nelson's Ledges (nlqp.com). I used to go there when I was younger and we would hike. I love that pace.

I would love to hike in the mountains.
