I raised my son alone since he was almost 2 and when he
was in school he always made me a father's day card each year. When he
get's up this morning,I know he'll wish me Happy Father's Day as he does
every year.He's almost 23 now.

Thank you very much Zap, and a Happy Fathers Day back to one and
all....oh I can't wait to see what my fathers day gift is this
year......

THANKS FOR RECOGNIZING ALL THE SINGLE MOMS IN THE WORLD, I HAVE BEEN MOM
AND DAD FOR 15YRS. I ALWAYS TEASE MY KIDS AND TELL THEM I NEED GIFTS FOR
BOTH HOLIDAYS. LOL. MY KIDS ARE GREAT. ANYWAY, I APPRECIATE YOUR
THOUGHTS, THANKS AGAIN

Your the best, and hard work will pay off. Sounds like your raising
great people.

Just need to be clear on one thing...

I want to be on the same page. To me, "single " parents...

1. may or may not have physical custody.
2. are continually and consistently involved in the lives of their
children, regardless of the "obstacles"
3. stay focused on their children and their needs,
4. try to emphasis the "other" parent's "good" qualities on a continual
and consistent basis.
5. try very hard to make the relationship about the "KIDS" and be a good
"mommy" or "daddy", first.
6. make it all about the kids not what's broken
7. sometimes have to eat a steaming pile of @#$%, and keep it for their
kids.
8. deal with the fact that the other person treat you as "deceased" and
has seen fit to isolate you from the daily happenings of your
child(ren)'s lives
9. need to seek information and communications about their child for
themselves. (very humbling and often embarrassing )
10. lastly, pray to God daily, sometime minute by minute, that their
efforts will all turn out alright and their children will see the
"whole" picture as the grow.

Remember, be the best parent you can be, love you children with all your
heart, protect them from all that is harmful, become the guardian of
their innocence for as long as you can, BE THERE, really be there, for
them and champion them in all they do. Be responsible for this life you
have brought into this world, and take all the responsibility, if
necessary, no matter how hard it is.

Only cowards walk away from something so beautiful, only selfishness
causes us to "play Santa Clause" and only immaturity causes us to allow
the "other" person (mom or dad) to block us from being a force in the
development of our child's life.

Peace to my "X" and may she have a happy life, be the best parent she
can and remember she didn't do this alone. Help her to recognize she is
not a "single" parent... I just don't live with HER anymore. Help her to
learn that WE need to be good parents, first, last and always...These
are OUR children.

mothers day on our day too...so I do see your point. Single parents are
both to their children...maybe not all of them but some are!! So I thank
you very much!!

Zap, and everybody else here, thank you for thinking of us single moms
with and without the daddy's in their kids lives. I appreciate it even
more today, because right here is where I heard the most about the
appreciation. Not one person around here in my life told me Happy
Fathers Day. I love you guys even though I don't post that much. I am a
shy person, so forgive me for not being more involved in the
discussions. I notice most all of the post and remember you and say a
prayer or try to figure out something or even relate to the same things
you talk about here. Thanks again my dear friends. I may end up with
more friends from this site than I have here or anywhere. I appreciate
you all.
