asked me to talk to my landlady about him coming to live with me. Everything will be ok, except, since I moved in, they changed the rule on pets
  My cat mittens, is 'grandfathered in', but he will have to find a home for his cats before he makes his final move!! I feel so guilty about that I just pray his sister will take them in, cuz then, he would still be able to go visit them I really want him to come out, but I hope he can find them a good home first!!

Hummmmmmmmmmmm why not just move to a different place sorry if it was me and had my animals as long as he has no way I would give them up gotta find a reasonable solution somewhere. JMO
That would be hard knowing I had to leave my pets but yet the one I'm living with still has theirs. 
And if the lease can not be broken then as soon as it can be would have to wait till then and find a new place that would accept them all..

Problem is, his parents won't keep them, and here, he can't bring them, and it is very hard to find a place like that here in town!!

Yeah, I'd have a big problem giving up my pets like that. Before deciding to do that, I'd have to do some serious research to try and find a place I could move with them instead.

That is a plausible option, Txs. Thanks. I have offered to her that in the mean time before I make the final move. I would come back out to see her again for a few or several days at the end of May next month. It might help a little with the "missing-you" blues. In the mean time, since there are so many "plans," (plan A, B, C, D, and so forth) I will try to negotiate something with my sister who lives in Fort Collins and see if she would be willing to adopt my two tuxedos. It might not even be permanent if somehow, Erica might be able to move across town to a complex that does allow cats. It's hard trying to strategize, but there's no problem too tough, I hope we can find a solution, but it may require a little patience for the time being.

There is another option I hadn't considered. Her father lives in Grand Junction in a house, and he might or might not be able to foster my cats, at least for a little while. And Grand Junction is only about an hour or so, away. It's possible. Just throwing that out there, but Sox would know better than me.

I am my cats mommy, could never part from them. I bottle fed them from birth, they don't even know they are cats. Shhhh...I may tell them when they are 18...we will see how it goes. |

I know your problem, but I would never give my dog up for a place, may cost a little more for deposit but its worth it my dogs have always been my life!!

Also good, or a mobile home, as I think her brother lives in somewhere over there. I am not really familiar with how many apartment complexes that are there and if indeed every last one of them does not allow pets. But if she believes there aren't any, I will go with that for now, and try to see if my sister will take them in. It would seem that we have plenty of time to turn-up "stones" so I'm not too terribly worried about it, but it will take time. I really appreciate your wise input TXsGal, thanks dear. |

Well  on the first part. As for the second part of what you stated, yes I feel the same way. Amber is 10 and Jazz is 16, I've had them their whole lives, but sometimes every once in a great while, love is about making sacrifices. I would like at least for my cats to have a good home, so maybe it would be a softer sacrifice. I would really be heart-broken if I had to give them to a shelter.

I'm happy things seem to be working out so well for you two. But, didn't you just recently meet in person for the first time? Why not take some time to work things out and see if you can find a new place that will be good for you both instead of rushing into something and leaving pets behind?

Bring them here to Boulder's Humane Society ... We've a No~Kill policy, enabled by high demand ... MOST here just feel compelled to do the right thing here and adopt! I actually don't know any pet owners here who haven't adopted from there ... I know that we did too ... Many of us volunteer there, as well, including my daughter and I ... So, they are well cared for and loved before adoption, as well ... Still, hope it works out to keep your family intact ...

It is too bad there are not foster homes for pets. I know that sounds like a logistical nightmare, but I am in the middle of a brain spaz and to me it sounds perfectly plausable. (Kick me later) And of course it does not help with your current situation. Good luck.

Oh my gosh, thank you Dancere, I had no idea until now about that policy. That was what I was the most worried about, is that if I was forced to give them up for adoption at a shelter, there would be an "expiration date." I'll definitely keep the Boulder Humane Society in mind. I talked with my sister today, and she may be able to help me, but she still has to talk it over with her husband. Even if he says no, she'll still take them for at least a month, and then we can work on finding them a home somewhere or use the Boulder option.

This seems to be a good site to keep and eye on just in case for rentals in the area there are a few listed. Not sure which ones allow pets some say no some do not say. But might want to check it daily just in case of a new one gets listed....
