for music, yep just like with the movies I do nearly the same with music. But I record the music and burn them to a blank disc,I have also compared one of my cd`s that I burned to a album that I bought at best buy and tried to compare them both. The one that I burned was exactly like the album I bought at the store, only difference is that mine was free.

So do you think its wrong? and is there anything that you wish you never had to pay for again?

well, its not high on my morally reprehensible list.. but as a musician ID say it is incredibly dishonest (although I have been guilty of it too). At the best, if used to sample an artist BEFORE buying him(as I do) its no big deal. BUt artists get paid by the profits which their SALES bring in,,,getting the product without paying for it is kind of like stealing from someone.

I wish I didnt have to pay for,,,,,school loans and grants,,lol. I wish it was a commission deal where the school gets paid IF they provide tools which land me a position, and then they take their pay 'when I get paid', as an automatic deduction.

Other than that, Im good with bartering money in return for services and goods (although the price of movies, or refreshments has long since become a RIDICULOUS barter)

It depends. I download music for free when the artist offers it.
It happens more than you think - there are sites where artists
can upload their music to share with each other and the public.

You have to remember, artists who are producing music for a
living are doing just that - they wish to be paid for the work
they are pouring into their music.

You are their paycheck - oops, actually, in your case, they are
not getting a paycheck because of you. What if the military
decided to cut your pay in half, but you still had to perform at
the same level? You'd probably not be happy, probably saying
things like, "they're stealing the money I should be getting".

Seek out artists who offer music for free based upon their
decision to do so, not because you think you deserve it.

This is not the open-source community, where developers know
they are offering the software for free - even in that instance,
donations can be made if you feel the software is providing
you some benefit.
