I went hog hunting.

How many did ya get?

Shot two...but won't know till tomorrow if it was a kill or not.

Was it getting dark? Or were you out there by yourself?

No, it was light and I was with my boss, Brenda. We ran into a herd of about 30. Walked up close to them, but they ran into the brush when we shot. We heard the impacts, but not crazy enough to follow them in.

Yeah them wild hogs can be dangerous.

Were you on horseback?

No, we were in my truck. Parked about 300 yds from them and skirted the trees to get within 75 yds by foot. But had a couple of oaks picked out to climb if we had to!

Sounds like a fun way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

It was fun.
I'm not getting the one everyone thought I was. BUT we found two puppies at out back gate today someone had dumped. Half starved and covered with mange. Yep..we rescued them and they are in the kennel at my back door! Tomorrow they will go to the vets to get fixed up and then come back to the ranch. Looks like I'll have dogs wheather I want them or not!

Well looks like they found a good home.

Have you figured out what kind they are?

Male and female from the same litter. About 9 weeks old, we think. Mix breed..maybe some lab and sheppard in them...nice big feet! The female is grey with black markings and the male is yellow.

Sounds like they may make some good hunters.
Or herders. Or both.

Had a little yellow lab years back. Great dog. Couldn't leave any socks laying around the floor cause he would pick them up and bring them to ya.

They do seem to be nice puppies. Sure were hungry! The male is pretty shy, the female friendlier, but the male also has the worse mange. He doesn't feel good. I put a bed in the kennel and they are all curled up on it. At least they don't have to worry about coyotes eating them tonight. We'll send them off later to be trained. Who knows, mixed breeds are usually the better pet. I'll take a picture in the morning before they go to the vets and post it. We'll see the before and after!

Well good luck with them. Sounds like you are going to have a couple of really good buddies to hang out with.
