WASHINGTON — Former President Bill Clinton earned nearly $6 million in speaking fees last year, almost all of it from foreign companies, according to financial documents filed by his wife, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.

The documents obtained Tuesday by The Associated Press show that $4.6 million of the former president's reported $5.7 million in 2008 honoraria came from foreign sources, including Kuwait's national bank, other firms and groups in Canada, Germany, India, Malaysia, Mexico and Portugal and a Hong Kong-based company that spent $100,000 on federal lobbying last year.

Executives at many of the firms that paid honoraria to Bill Clinton have also donated large amounts of money to the Clinton Foundation, according to documents it released last year as part of an agreement with Congress on Hillary Clinton's nomination as secretary of state. That agreement was aimed at preventing the appearance of any conflict of interest between the ex-president's charitable organization and his wife's new job as the United States' top diplomat.

In addition to Bill Clinton's income from speaking fees, Hillary Clinton reported joint holdings of between $6.1 million and $30.3 million in a blind trust as well as cash, insurance and retirement accounts worth between $1 million and $5.2 million.

Not that you can really compare Clinton and Palin...

The OP is about fattening of the wallet. There isn't ANY difference between the two in this regard.

I guess I just don't see the fascination people have with her.I'm not saying it's a problem for her to make money at all. Just that she's not comparable to Clinton.

I could see the upper class paying her to speak after all she speaks for them. I cant understand for one minute why some working stiff would cheer on some bimbo who is working against their best interests. Its a sad state of afairs.

If someone wants to buy her book or pay to hear her speak, then that is their choice. How is it a problem other than the fact that you don't like her? I don't care fr her much, myself, but she is earning money....so?

missed ya madman laugh

the trouble is these rubes can vote and who they vote for has an impact on my life. Look what a crappy Job bush did. It realy realy matters that we have a president with some skills. Palin and all she stands for should be shunned and mocked at every opertunity. I wont miss any opertunity if I can help it:wink:

I was reading all this and getting mad, thinking......why in the world do we wanna talk about politics? It always leads to the same anger, and shot taking.

And then I read this post. Just awesome. Way to keep it light.

If I were compiling a book of quotes, "Boobies make EV'rything alright...!" would be the title.

well from my perspective u know being an old bird an all..
she gotum dun when she was young, and frankly, they were huge. now that she is older, she is quite lovely, and it looks to me that her double DD chest shrunk to a C or smaller.
