The old man is sitting on a bench in the park feeding ducks. Looking up he sees a young couple walking. They are holding hands and speaking to each other in French. They are walking towards him. He says "hello" and they stop. The old man reaches into his pocked and pulls out a bracelet and holds it towards them.

"This was my wife's bracelet..." he begins. He looks at the bracelet in his hand as it glimmers in the sun. "It was a beautiful day, much like today, when I gave it to her."
The couple just stare at the old man having no idea what he is saying. They are tourists and don't speak English.
"She's gone now, see? " he says to the young couple. "I miss her terribly. I feel so lost without her now. All I've got now are these ducks and this bracelet to remember her by." He sighs. He then holds out the bracelet to the couple. They look at each other protesting in French...not wanting to take the bracelet, but the old man insists. They take the bracelet...say "Bon Jour" and walk away still holding hands. The old man watches them as they walk away. He then goes back to feeding the ducks.

The young could learn so much from the old. But, we've lost the ability to understand them anymore. We don't listen to them or value what they say....almost like they speak another language. It's a shame because they hold the answers...the secrets to life.

Exactly! That was why I had the young couple as tourists that don't understand English, see? It was a metaphor. Very good, Grasshopper! flowerforyou

They know the story behind the bracelet... the young ones will learn it over time. And if they last... mebbe they'll pass the bracelet along?
