Easter is the celebration of our savior's resurrection. That would then state that it is important. Regardless of what other beliefs may have hijacked easter, it still nevertheless is the resurection day of our great savior.

Easter is also another Pagan Holiday that christianity usurped and made its own. It comes from the old english for Eastre, Eostre, or Eoaster. named for the Goddess Eostre of the anglo-saxan paganism.
It was a month of feasts in honor of the goddess.

In the beginning, it was all true: true God, true religion, true celebrations on correct days and timings etc. etc. Then come the godlessness. Godly people falling for the godlessness and sticking into it so deep...never to pull up. Today, almost all the important "Chrsitian" things are "pagan"-based. So,let us stop believing in false things such as lent, ash wednesday, good-friday, easter, easter eggs, christmas, sunday-services, fasting, espensive church-buildings and many more. You ought to know the truth/untruth behind these things. Please write to me. I have 11 yrs of religious education beind me and my God in front of me. BUT EVERYBODY CAN KNOW THE TRUTH IF BIBLE IS READ CAREFULLY!
Please never say Easter. Say Resurrection.
Thank you.

Christianity was not the first religion and it isn't going to be the last. Each religion claimed that their God or Goddess was the true God. Even today we have several religions all claiming that their God is the right one.

People celebrate holidays for many reasons, a good portion of them are no longer the religious holiday they once were. Christmas, easter and halloween come to mind. They are commercialized holidays that are more about the candy and presents than the religious overtone.

the reason we have the easter bunny because people of old took pagan holiday and mixed it with the christian holiday which is the resurection of our lord. the eggs is suposed to represent the fire gods thats why the bright colors but reason for easter is to celebrate jesus resurecction in 3 days

Actually it was the Christians who decided to set Easter at the same time as the Pagan holiday Ostara. And, yes, the two religions mixed practices which is a normal process. Anytime you put two cultures together you will end up with a new culture that has new practices and beliefs that are a combination of the previous practices.

Funny you should ask about Easter. Here's some background. Easter is the name of the pagan goddess of fertility. The story goes that she came to earth in a giant egg, landed in a river, burst out of the egg with egg laying rabbits. The coloring of eggs came from the pagan tradition of dying eggs in the blood of sacrificed infants. It's really a gruesome tradition that started Easter. THEN along came Constantine who hated the Jews. The Jews were celebrating Passover about the same time of the year that this pagan tradition was being celebrated. Constantine decreed that NO Jewish traditions were allowed. So, to humor the gentile believers, he allowed them to share the pagan Easter holiday and say it was for their God. The sunrise service is to honor "Easter's" husband who was the Sun God. The story goes on and on and only those who really really wanna know the truth behind tradition will keep reading.

Our Messiah was not crucified on "good Friday" and did not raise from the dead on Easter Sunday. According to the Word He was crucified in the middle of the week and arose on the Sabbath because He is the Lord of the Sabbath. The Bible states that there is one sign for a wicked and adulterous generation...the sign of Jonah. 3 days and 3 nights in the tomb. Count em...you can't get 3 days and 3 nights between Good Friday and Easter Sunday.

In saying all of that...I wonder how the Creator of the Universe feels about us totally messing up on something as special as honoring the Messiah's Resurrection?????
THIS DAY of JESUS RESURRECTION,,the day we now live for really...The showing that we to shall have eternity with him.
I so wonder though,,very much really..as to WHY,,on this miracle day for others to witness,,,that HE did not GO BACK before the King and SHOW HIM THIS MIRACLE OF HIS KING AND FATHER,,OUR LORD..??
I know,,I will wonder till my time to ask HIM,,,wink, lol

its easter once again ....but do yal know the true meaning of easter if yes please share am here to learn .

I'm a bit late, but the meaning of Easter is rebirth. Although touted as a Christian holiday, the name "Easter" comes from the Celtic goddess of spring, Ostara or Eostre. Some say it comes from the Babylonian Ishtar, but that's stretching time a bit.

It is celebrated with eggs because eggs are ancient symbols of fertility; in some creation myths, there is a cosmic egg which "births" the universe. Bunnies? No need to speak of why these represent fertility.

Jesus died and was reborn in spring like many other dying/resurrected deities including Persephone (who technically didn't die), Adonis, Dumuzi/Tammuz and Dionysus. The difference is that the others traditionally died in fall to be reborn in spring.

But hey, that Jesus--always bucking tradition!
