Oh I too hate the stupid cake smashing. Who started this dumbness anyway?? There you are all dressed up and feeling pretty/handsome and the next thing you know you have cake all over your face, make up ruined and still gads of pics to be taken! Plus it always seemed to me like something you might do during a fight (if cake was handy). Smashing anything into your brand new spouse's face just seems plain mean to me! I have seen it done where it was actually pianfull!!!

Someone sent a pic through of the couple having bloody noses. Sad.

i'd love to get a cake smashed in my face, wedding day or not. as a fatter of mact, my kids and i had a cupcake fight at the last one's birthday party. haha the looks i got when the parents came to pick up their kids (i didn't realize there was chocolate smudge all over my face, and white icing for my eyelashes)

it's only cake; it'll wash off. i've always said that the dirtiest kids are the ones having the most fun.

As kids it's one thing. As adults who are supposed to be respecting each other, it comes off as very disrespectful.

and as someone with their own brain, and their own feelings, it would just come off as very funny to me.

I tend to think it is a power play and says a lot about how people will treat each other over all. Public fighting is dumb even in jest.

Considering it looks kind of piggy to put this huge piece of cake in your mouth the smaller and more considerate the gift and symbolic feeding of each other the more in good taste the ritual is.

To me iot is also very disrespectful to whom ever baked or paid for the cake (usually some major big bucks) and, as was pointed out earlier, the nice clothes and venue it seems really juvinile and poor manners. You want to have a food fight save it for bachelor/bachlorette) party.

Personally I think food fights are disrespectful in general. If you are fortuneate enough to have plenty of food slinging it at someone is pretty ungrateful and selfish. Especially to the poor people who generally end up having to clean up the mess. Considering weddings are generally inner-generational often multi-cultural it seems like showing off your good fortune.

What is even more gross is when they lick it off each other's face and or fingers.

I had no sooner got those words out of my mouth when the groom went up to the Bride grabbed the back of her head as if to kiss her then moved and shoved her whole head into a 5 tier cake.....surprised
