I am behind the times. Everything I listen to is moldy. Give me some new tunes!!

However, some rules:

1. It hasn't been played on any mass-market radio like Clear Channel.
(I know some really cool little radio stations play different things)

2. Each band you suggest should have a different sound than the last.
Try to mix up the genres too.

3. I have to be able to get a demo, clip, or somehow get it online for free.
Sorry, I just don't want to pay for something I don't know if I like.

4. No covers.

5. Try to make it a different genre or sound from the post above you.

6. Extra points if they're currently touring so I can go see them if I like them.

If you don't know much new music, ask your friends and family for suggestions and come back with them. You'll be giving these tired ears some new life! Thanks!!!

Two bands I've been listening to a lot of lately are :

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club...a few people probably have heard of them but their new album is really good.

The Black Ryder is a pretty good group. There album isn't out here in the US yet but its worth looking for their music and worth listening to. I know they are one of the biggest groups in Australia right now.

I like BRMC, got the album Baby81 (I think that's the title) on CD. It's good.

For something with a bit more bite, try the debut album from Vektor, Black Future: http://heavyartillery.us/HA55012/
Some long demo's, long enough to decide if you like it or not. It's one of the best thrash releases I've heard in a while.

Oh, and don't be a complete leech, if you like it, buy it! Show some support for the bands you like.

Hmmmm, well as far as mass market radio, I'm not sure if these are played in other countries, but I've never heard them here in America.

Cradle of Filth
Epica
A Day to Remeber
AFI
Crystal Method
Dope
Kazzer
Darude
Headhunterz
D Block & S-tefan
KMFDM
Smashing Pumpkins
Tenacious D

It's not a big mix of genres, but some really good music imho.

check out Townes Van Zandt. He mostly played the small clubs and bars around Austin and San Antonio. He was a country-folk type singer song writer and is considered one of America's historic poets

the bulk of his life was spent touring various dive bars, often living in cheap motel rooms, backwoods cabins and on friends' couches. Van Zandt was notorious for his drug addictions, alcoholism, and his tendency to tell tall tales. When young, he was diagnosed with manic depression, and insulin shock therapy erased much of his long-term memory.

Van Zandt died on New Years Day 1997 from health problems stemming from years of substance abuse. The 2000s saw a resurgence of interest in Van Zandt. During the decade, two books, a documentary film and a number of magazine articles about the singer were created. Van Zandt's music has been covered by such notable and varied musicians as Emmylou Harris, Bob Dylan, Lyle Lovett, Norah Jones, Steve Earle, The Cowboy Junkies, The Meat Puppets, and Robert Plant.

oops ! I just reread your post, you want new music. I don't like most newer music, it's just noise to be, especially rap.
