I have an idea for a product. I want to sell embroidery patterns I draw myself through a web site. Sense you can use a computer print out as an iron transfer one time, I'm thinking I could simply email the patterns to people that buy them and they could print them out from their own printer. So, I'd have no printing or shipping costs. I'd only have to pay for ads, a web site and whatever charges there may be for the transactions. But, I know nothing about internet marketing or even how to go about starting this business.

My 2 cents...I wouldnt email anyone your designs. Good way to have them plastered everywhere. Loss of profit. Try selling a cd or the print. One sheet of paper and a stamp is not a huge cost.

i buy and sell on the Web
sounds like a good idea you have.
just make Sure that you Copyright your patterns,or someone can just turn around and sell your stuff as theirs.

also,a lot of people use free websites and such.
you get what you pay for, literally.

paying for a host/server is a good idea.
Promotion is by far the biggest hurdle..you can have the best product in the world, but if people cant find it,then?

also,payments..can be made thru paypal and such..that frees you up a bit,BUT just remember that most of these companies such as paypal Charge a percentage of each sale.

just a couple of thoughts..Good Luck to you.

There's also packaging and fuel costs driving to the post office. Not to mention the extra time I'd have to put into it.

I'm not worried about bootlegging though. I'll be selling them so cheap no one will bother. I'd rather write a program that sends an email when someone buys. Then I can focus on new artwork.
