just for the record if we are speaking of racism against Spanish Spanish is a subset of the caucasian race. Just like anglo, or norwegian, or italian so its hard for a caucasian to be racist against another caucasian but when it comes to nationalities I do happen to be prejudiced against mexicans. We, as Texans, fought two wars with them already and whipped em. There hasn't been anything that mexico has done in the last hundred years to change my opinion of em. Even the Texas hispanics are insulted if you call em Mexicans EDIT: I have a friend who vehemently says "don't call me Latino. Those are all Cubans and Puerto Ricans. And don't call me Chicano. Those are all in California driving low riders. And don't call me Mexican. They all live a hundred miles south of here. I am the by god pure blood decendant of the Spanish Conquistadors and you can call me either Spanish or Texican" So even among the hispanics there is some prejudice I guess I served in the military and was GOOD friends with 5 Mexicans, three from Texas and two from Southern California. (by good friends, I mean I worked with, ate with, partied with, lived with, **** with, laughed with and cried with) I refer to them as Mexicans because that is how they referred to themselves. Three of the five were 1st generation Americans and used the term "wetback" when making fun of illegal aliens. They also used to tell me that Hispanic was just a word white people used. Haven't talked to any of them since I've been out of the Army, so I haven't gotten their take on the term "Latino," but my guess is, it would be the same. Funny thing too, when I was married, my wife was a teacher in a charter school, where the population was 90% black. I say black, because the kids all referred to themselves as black and said the term "African-American" was a word made up by white people. Funny, huh? I don't have an opinion - just an observation. |

i love when guys like Tancredo, Hannity, O'Reilly state they want to go back to the America they grew up in..and claim not to be racist for that time period was when there were seperate bathrooms and water fountains. once again son...you missed the point...when Conservatives talk about returning to the 50's for instance [ ohhhhhhhh for the 50's was a common refrain of mine in my early Mingle days ]...we're indicating that there was less Liberalism...less government regulation...less debt...NO political correctness...less crime...wonderful childhood memories...summer vacations...little league baseball...how you can go back to the good old days and only come up with seperate bathrooms and water fountains...well...I leave it at that... Please quit offending me by calling me your Son. thank you. While i'm on this thread, it's amazing how not one Conservative on this board has spoken out against your party for choosing to hold its meeting of protesting out of control spending in Hawaii at one of its most expensive resorts. |

The American Indians immigrated to the Americas from South Asia about 10,000-20,000 years ago. There's nothing truly "indigenous" about Indians-they just crossed the land bridge first. So, technically, YOU are descended from immigrants yourself. |

The point was, that the "native' americans had established societies when the Europeans rode up on them. This the the type of mentality that people of color have had to deal with and the lies and half truths we have been fed by the "majority". Their was cultured life in African, Asia and America before the White man. |

I saw a tribe anounce on here that they were going to test an old indain to prove one way or the other now . I don't know if that would really prove it though i hope so . i would like it done to the entire human race . i would like to clear up just who i am related to . i don't believe the current tales at all . |
