Topic: What does everyone think? | |
---|---|
I am a 32 year old female looking for that special one. One of the assets in a guy is for him to meet my parents before we go steady. Does anyone see anything wrong with that? I was born with cerebral palsy which means that I can't get my drivers license. So, I'm looking for someone who can drive, not judge me because of my disabilities, be willing to meet my parents & accept me for who I am. Do those types of guys exist?

rarely, but yes, all "types" of guys exist, you just have to find them along your journey in life, it's not as hard as everyone thinks, many times they are right in front of us but we most oft are looking in the wrong direction, good luck and be safe.

I agree with HF, you have to target your audience - look where that type of man would be (church maybe?) |

I can't speak to PA laws, but in CA, CP is not necessarily a stop to a driver license. I specialized in working with those who had less than perfect lives at my driving school; the d/Deaf, the physically impaired, etc. My ego is not so large as to think I am/was the only person willing to do that. Yes, they are out there, pennstate, it's just a challenge to find them
May I recommend some of the Virtual Reality sites, like Second Life, where your avatar becomes your seeker. In a VR world, there are no disabilities or handicaps, or social hurdles unless you WANT there it be. I used to have an island there called Cape Able, which catered to just such problematics as you described. While I am no longer involved with Second Life, I think you may find it useful and interesting. Good luck with your search...and keep looking. Remember, you ALWAYS find what you are looking for, in the LAST place you looked...keep going, gal! |

Some of my friends have told me that I shouldn't have to introduce the guy to my parents when he & I first meet. Since I don't drive, what's the problem in introducing him to them? I thought I had a guy "interested" in me but because of not having a job(yes I am looking) & having to meet my folks, he decided he was no longer interested. He said he isn't in high school & he doesn't want a girl who "needs her parents approval to date." I told him that I didn't need their approval, they just wanted to meet him. |

Since they never discussed dating, I thought it was just a group of single friends getting together to hang out. That singles group is having a benefit event at a local church to benefit the churc's singles group. So, do you think I should check with some guys there? After all that is why I started going to these events as well as to get out of the house. |

Remember, you ALWAYS find what you are looking for, in the LAST place you looked...keep going, gal! I was able to get my learner's permit at age 16. I went to Hershey Medical Center to go through their driving program for people with disabilities. At the end of the session, they said I was the worst driver they ever had & that I had no peripheral vision so I would never be able to drive. |

I went to Penn State too. Welcome to Mingle! I never went to Penn State, but I am a huge diehard fan of the football team & JoePa. There's a restaurant at a local mini golf course called "JoePa's Sports Grille." I went there shortly after it opened & I loved it. There are big screen tvs that had replays of some games on. The walls are painted blue & white. I felt at "home." :) |

^grew up less then 50 miles from beaver stadium, and my grandfather used to own the only gas station in Bellefonte (sunoco) before he died, but I'm a huge notre dame fan, and an avid Penn state hater...yuk yuk yuk.....get a scooter, you don't need a license for that, or do like everyone does in phila, ride a four wheeler through the streets illegally,,,,ha ha...... the only handicap in dating is the limitations one puts on how much they can grow together.... |
