Topic: What is Faith?

And again..silly-ness. They are grown men...would they suddenly become stupid if I didn't love them or have faith in them. I would think not...

As one who has been a child and one who has been a mother..a parent having faith in you..well, gives a warm fuzzy. Why wouldn't I want my sons to have that?
I have faith in their un-limited potential to make their lives whatever they want..it helps. I choose what to have faith in..I choose them and myself. You can choose also.
I'm not a bebater..as you know.
Now Middle..he'll go all day with ya.

Peace brother. flowerforyou

Since you know nothing of my sons..any and all scenarios you can come up with could be...after 26 years of parenting sons, there is nothing they can do that would cause me to give up my "motherly" faith in them.

Again..silly-ness.
Many will argue and banter with you. I'll not defend my faith in my children with you any longer...

are you terribly bored...

Faith is one's attempt to acheive peace of mind due to the possibility of Divine Interevention ....this is why Faith only applies to religion....Faith is simply Hope....anything beyond that is Witchcraft

from miriam webster(my homie,,lol)

a (1) : belief and trust in and loyalty to God (2) : belief in the traditional doctrines of a religion b (1) : firm belief in something for which there is no proof (2) : complete trust
3 : something that is believed especially with strong conviction; especially : a system of religious beliefs <the Protestant faith

Faith applies ESPECIALLY to religion, but not ONLY to religion

even according to your homie miriam....Faith only applies to religion ...

where do you see the word ONLY in my homies definitions?

Maybe the word is "confidence"...let the thumpers have their magic word...laugh

I hear similar sentiments from many rationalists, atheists, materialists, etc; and even the religious agree. There are many on both sides that embrace the idea that 'faith' is only for the religious, and there are many on both sides who think they are superior to 'the other side' because of it. The faithful tend to think they have a special experience, unavailable to the faithless; and the non-religious tend to think the faithful are delusional.

While I can sympathize with the rationalist's desire to distance themselves from 'belief without evidence', I still can't agree with the idea that this is all there is to faith, nor that 'faith' belongs to the religious.

My personal experience of faith goes far beyond confidence. The experience of faith has more in common with the experience of love, than it does with the experience of confidence.

it has nothing to do with me knowing your sons or your parental skills or you giving up Faith ...I simply asked could your sons raise a Motherlesss Child just as good if not better than you, if you had Faith in them

As boys who grew up fatherless, and have watched me..yes, I have faith they could and would. As men, I have no doubt that they could do a better job at it than I did, especially should this motherless child you refer to be a boy. As a woman I flew by the seat of my pants at my attempts to teach my boys to be men, yet somehow they have grown into wonderful young men. I have endless faith my sons would step up and be a grand examples as far as parenting a motherless child. At this point they have each exhibited responsibility as to not create a child.....perhaps to spare such child the pain of abandonment they have and will endure.

if that is true then how could you have made such statements as these

also let's say that you decided to not have faith in your sons to raise a motherless child....would they instantly lose their ability to do so

the point I'm trying to make is that Faith doesn't exist beyond the mind ...that once someone start claimng because they have faith in something that it magically makes their wish come true is placing theirself into the role of God or performing witchcraft

one can have faith....but it is only hope

With all due respect..you young man know nothing of the power of my mind and what I have and continue to create...
Hope is for the those who have nothing and need hope...
I moved beyond beyond hope many years ago... I have a knowing.
Witchcraft, as you call it is only magic and is very easy to do, and I am a piece of God.

if I know nothing of the power of your mind then you shouldn't mind answering the question to see if your Faith is witchcraft...

if you made the decision to not have faith in your sons would they instantly lose their intelligence and goodness and be incapable of taking care of a motherless child ....

I have been answering your questions....one remotely close to "losing
faith or choosing to give up faith in my sons" is a silly question and answer worthy.

it was a yes or no question to test if your belief in faith existed beyond your mind ...apparently if you think the question is silly then so is that belief
