Possible virus not sure but as soon as I boot up my computer it goes to log in then suddenly logs off.

I don't want to loose the information I have on my computer so what do I need to do.

For now I'm on my son's computer for I was afraid to do the restore where the blue screen comes up on the screen due to I don't want to loose everything I have on there and go back to like it was brand new....

Is there a way I can go in and download all my info before doing any type of restore to it?

Did you try hitting f8 before it logs off to go into safe mode?

if ya can get it into safe mode then try an do a fully restart if that don't work then not sure..

You need to press F8 to get the boot menu and choose Safe Mode. It should let you log in from there since this only loads the bare minimum that the system needs to run. If you can log in successfully, try backing up your files to an external hard drive or a flash drive.

This, and immediately after backing up your files, do a virus scan. Antivir, or kapersky antivirus all do amazong things and they are 100% free.

If you want something that is a little more abrasive, but gets the job done, download and run (in safe mode) smitfraudfix. It should get rid of any processes that are malicious.

Any finds of viruses, post them and I can help you fully get rid of them. No need to reformat when you really don't have to. That's always a last resort.

Kristi, I had the same problem. Luckily I have a back up, but my brother in law is fixing mine. If you want, I can get him to fix yours too.

Most work best if you have another computer that can burn Cds....

Luckily enough I do have a back up I'm using my sons computer for now I will try hooking mine back up and trying the suggestions first main thing is I don't want to loose everything I have on it due to I did not back it up like I should on another option that will teach me....

He will do it at no charge. He has had to do mine 2 times now

I am keeping my backup. Giving that one, and it is NEW, to my son.

I don't want the headache anymore

Kristi, i have already mentioned this, up in mods..

On boot, press and hold f8. Start up in safe mode. Restore back to last known good config. That should work.

Unless somehow the registry files have been corrupted. In that case, run the above, and run a registry tool.

If these steps do not work, then you will need to go further.

There are several things that can cause this problem, but most times, it's a driver issue on a failed install. If he was trying to install or run an unsupported program... and i suspect that's the case, a simple go back should work.

One other thing, and i suppose you have, but check all usb port connections. Sometimes, simply unplugging all usb ports, and restarting will clear the problem..

Without knowing more of the specifics..this is as far as i can go, for now.
