I've been looking for apartments all morning and it had me wondering...

What's rent like where you live? If you're currently renting, what do you pay? Or, if you don't want to give that information, what's typical in your area?

When I was living in Herndon, VA, I paid $1135/month for a one bedroom apartment.

$1135 a month. I thought Cali was high at times.

When I lived In Cali I was paying $1150 for a 3 beroom house. That normally would jhave been more like $2250 a month. I knew the owner

Now I live in UT and I pay $550 a moth for a two bedroom Apt.

i live about an hour away from the big" city of rochester.

when i rented,it was 400 a month..as you move closer to the cities,its as much as 800 a month.

in the big cities, its outrageous...mega money and no privacy at all.

i would much rather own a house for the kind of money people charge for rent.

now,the house payment is 500 a month.

Where in Cali were you paying that? L. A. had similar rent to what I was paying. San Francisco had much higher rent. Also, my rent did not include any utilities.

I was about 25 miles from DC. The closer to DC, the more expensive the rent was.

My parents own a 4 unit house here on Mid coast Maine, they are all small 1 bedroom apts - about $650. a month plus utilities. beautiful area though. Vacation rentals are more like $1000 - 12000.00 a week during tourist season!!!

Holy cow. Most of you pay nothing! I wish! I live in NYC and I pay all your combined rents...seriously. To give you an idea, parking in a garage is about $800/month typically and that's why most people in Manhattan don't have cars.

Well bear in mind that I live in (Tax)achusetts which happens to be one of the last states on the map that U would even remotely want to consider home ownership. So let's talk apts.then.Within the city an average 1 bdrm w/ partial utilities is $550.00-$700.00(sub-par area)$700.00-$900.00(nice area).Add 150.00 more for each if 2 bdrm.If U branch out to-wards rural areas then your looking at $1100.00-$1300.00(no utilities).Welcome to Mass.ohwell flowerforyou

My one bedroom with washer and dryer is $440.00 a month...it's also a gated community. I also have a park outside my door...not bad. the cost of living here is cheap...

Yeah, California is generally very high. I live in the Antelope Valley and the rent is much cheaper for a nice area. I pay $1030 for a 2 bedroom 2 bath apartment. In other areas of Southern Cali this would be $1500 or $1600.

Yep, and Mass is actually low compared to Cali... A 2 bdrm in my area goes for $1500-2000 and a 3 bdrm $2000-2500 and that's during the low rents when the economy is better it's even higher..
