It's difficult for me cause I do enjoy it

...that's the addiction part of it...

I'm using an electric cigarette right now..

Does that mean you can't smoke if it rains? slaphead tongue2

oh sparkie..I meant electronic slaphead

I decided yesterday that the pack of cigs I had left would be my last. Today's day one. So far, with the help of a nicotine patch, sunflower seeds, and chewing gum; I'm doing alright. Thanks for all the suggestions & encouragement.

3 packs a day for 35 years - the short, unfiltered Camels. Quit after my heart attack. Tried 'chemical joy'. Couldn't - allergic to the glue they use. Cold turkey was the only way. Main urges were gone in a month. It still took over a year to really think I had 'quit'. It's been 16 years now and I'm still quit. Was it easy? No. Was it quick? No. Was it permanent? Yes. It came down to a simple premise: I do NOT lose. I would not let a tiny paper tube filled with dried weeds beat me. I won. I have no intention of EVER becoming a slave again to a paper tube full of dried weeds. It's all about will power.

35 years, non filters, and 3 packs a day!?! This should be a breeze for me then. Been a one packer for only two or three years.

Day two, so far so good

You can do it. It all depends on how hardheaded you are and how much you want to win. It all comes down to pride and self-respect.

When I got caught smoking on campus in high school, I had to take some smoking prevention/how-to-quit classes. I was never really addicted myself, but the guy who taught it said cold turkey is the best way to quit. I don't know if that works for addicted people, but there ya go. This advice is worth what you paid for it. laugh

I would like to quit smoking. I quit for 2.5 years and just started back last fall. how stupid of me! I had this cigarette fund that I would put my $ in everyday for cigs, and at the end of the month, I would buy myself something really nice. Now I used the fund to pay for other things since I started again. In New York, cigs are 10.50 a pack.....that should be incentive enough! anyway, back to the drawing board. they say everytime you quit you get closer to permanent. sure hope so....

Want some incentive ... ? Every time you light up, look at the cigarette and have a conscious realization that IT is controlling YOUR life, YOUR decisions, YOUR discretionary income, YOUR decision to say 'NO'. If you can live with that, well, you ain't gonna quit smoking ...

We humans all have our battles, we all have our demons to fight...
Your's may not be tobacco, but Lord knows it something when your not wearing your Superman cape!

Stopping smoking is the struggle of my life and I will win it, in the meantime I could do without the judgment...cape or no cape. smokin

My goal is health and longevity...my pride and self respect remain fully intact!
