Well, now that he has used the Vikings for his personal vandetta against the Green Bay Packers, he is already saying he might retire.
Oh sure, he had a great season, culminating in yet ANOTHER horrible, season-ending interception in the NFC Championship game, but the most important thing is, he DID beat the Packers twice this year. Just wondering if we will have to sit thru another teary-eyed performance at a press conference, or do you think we will just watch him ride off into the sunset on his lawn tractor, wearing his favorite pair of Wrangler jeans? In all seriousness, Ed Werder from ESPN is reporting that Brett stated he is highly unlikely to play again. For all the ripping of Favre that I do, I admit, he made it obvious that the shoulder injury impacted his game, immensely last year. He looked like the Favre of 2 years ago, when he had his last great year, with the Packers. When he announced his retirement that year, I said it was a huge mistake. The guy could still play at a high level and he still can now. He is probably one of the most competitive QBs and certainly the toughest to ever play, and he was still making some unbelievable throws, late in the year. From what I saw this year, he could play next year and still be one of the best QBs in the league. That being said, I'm glad he is in Minnesota. I feel for ya, Purple Nation. |

There are two more teams in the NFC North that he hasn't played for. Brett Farve in a LIONS uniform next season??? He could teach a LOT to Stafford....lmao |

Well....from what Stafford showed last season...I think the Lions found a good one.
Did you know that Stafford's numbers were every bit as good as Mark Sanchez's?? Sanchez just had a better team around him. |

Sanchez just had a better team around him. Stafford looked promising, but it is hard to develop a young QB on a bad team. I give the Lions about 2 more years to get him enough help to make the team competitive, or my guess he goes the way of Joey Harrington: confidence shot, career over. |

I said this last summer, and I will say it again here now. Minnesota made a HUGE mistake bringing Bret into the fold. You can say he made them better, but at what cost? They didn't make it to the Super Bowl, and if he does leave, where does that put the Vikings? Bret cost them BIG in the NFC title game. Sorry, but the Vikes should have won, and had Bret tried to not make a play their near the end of regulation, then they might have.
I love the guy. Always have. But their comes a time when you just need to let it go and realize that you had a long, prosperous career. |

Sorry, but the Vikes should have won, and had Bret tried to not make a play their near the end of regulation, then they might have. I love the guy. Always have. But their comes a time when you just need to let it go and realize that you had a long, prosperous career. It was pure risk, versus reward. Childress was under a ton of criticism and Tavaris Jackson's development seemed to be hitting the ceiling. Rosenfeld was signed, but not exactly a sure thing. So he courted Favre, in hopes that a veteran could run his offense. He already had the best RB in the league, along with a VERY good defense, two things that normally make your team competitive in every game. But with Favre, comes some baggage. Who needs training camp? Certainly not a 40 y/o future Hall of Famer. The man's ego does not allow him to be coached, which he proved during the last few weeks of the regular season. When Childress tried to pull him from a game, Favre spanked him and told him to get his a$$ back to the bench. And again, in a high pressure game, he reverted back to "the Gunslinger." Something Packer fans are all too familiar with. I stated in another thread. They didn't bring Favre in to beat Green Bay and have a great statistical year, they brought him in to win the Super Bowl. Anything else should be considered a failure. They have enough intact to make another run, next year. But their schedule will be tougher. And Favre will be a year older. The window is closing. |

I don't think there's any chance he's going to Detroit or any other team for that matter. He'll either play again for Minn, or he'll hang up his football shoes.

I think that he drags this out every year just to avoid having to go to training camp.

What would you do, if you were the Vikings?
I would make a play for McNabb. Their other option is to go with Jackson or Rosenfeld and wait until mid-training camp to see if the King will come back and play for another year (which he probably will). Just don't plan on making him earn his spot. Either hand it back to him, or be prepared for him to leave and sign with the Bears or Lions to get revenge. This is the statement from Brett Favre: "When I decided to return to the NFL to play my 19th season, I did so with some trepidation," Favre said on the Web site. "After all, I was joining a new team in a new city, for the archrivals of the 'green and gold.' And I'm not getting any younger. "I couldn't be happier about my decision. The coaches, staff, and especially teammates who joined me in the season's journey are true professionals, and better yet, friends. I felt completely comfortable from Day One as a member of the Minnesota Vikings, and it's a tribute to the entire organization that accepted me with open arms." "Regardless of what the future holds, I want everyone to know that I will cherish the memories of the past year for the rest of my life." Could he be more ambiguous? |

Brett still has it why not bring it back for one more year FTW

that's the one thing about Favre
he has so much confidence in his arm that he throws a LOT of interceptions. including that crushing one in the title game but then yanno who has the MLB strikeout record? Babe Ruth when you hit a LOT of homeruns, you're gonna have a LOT of strikeouts too same for Favre |

Brett still has it why not bring it back for one more year FTW ![]() ![]() I admit, after the year with the Jets, he looked like he was done. Nobody knew about his shoulder injury and this year, he proved he still has the physical ability to play on a HIGH level for a few more years. And I hope he does. But OH the drama! As a Packer fan, I don't miss that. Or all of his very untimely interceptions. Feel sorry for ya, Viking fan. |

2009 Vikes. Lost a squeaker to the Superbowl Champion
New Orleans Saints despite 6 fumbles and the interception. 31-28 in OT. That's about as close as you get. Don't tell me that if they work hard and bring Favre back that they don't have as good a chance as anyone in 2010. C'mon now. It's a no brainer. ![]() |

It's a no brainer. ![]() It's their best bet right now, but he will be a year older. I'm not sure about their other players: who they might lose in free agency and what not. He is better than anything else they have at QB, right now. But they are held hostage while he mulls retirement, once again. They may want to play it safe and go after McNabb. A guy that KNOWS he wants to play next year. |

yeah. or bring along a promising young QB to assist and learn.
i think that Brett *has* to waffle now based on the merchandising alone! ![]() i think they will have it resolved early this year. give everybody a chance to catch their breath and we'll see. the team goes beyond Favre...but he is a rare vintage. I hope he'll give it one more shot based on what I saw this season. i just like to watch good football and they were involved in a lot of exciting football this year. |

yeah. or bring along a promising young QB to assist and learn. Trust me, King Favre will have none of that. ![]() I do agree, the man does make for some entertaining football. |

when the Packers picked up Aaron Rogers
Brett Favre was asked if he was taking Rogers under his wing and teaching him he said "no, the kid is on his own" I thought that was kinda arrogant and selfish so I wouldnt count on him tutoring any young quarterbacks |
