Last night I got thinking on a philosophical level "what came first the chicken or the egg??" then i thought "well if that is that then what came first the tree or the seed???". How can something that seems so simple actually be so complex?? If the tree did come first then how did the tree grow?? From nothing?? and if the seed came first where did the seed that grew the tree come from?? Its a perfect design, a seed can last for nth in the soil/ground until the correct/optimum conditions come for that seed to grow, i.e. in the desert, I cant name species, but i'm sure if you google it or wikipedia it you will find some flower, grass or cacti that this is true of...if anyone can answer these questions or can add to this post please feel free...

A chicken and an egg are lying in bed after sex smoking a cigerette. The egg looks over at the chicken and says I guess we figured out that age old question..........smokin

people have been at odds over this question thru out the ages. I doubt we're going to solve it here... but hey, lets give it a shot.

uhmmm...the egg? See... My reasoning is that one day, when no humans were around to notice, the dinosaur evolved into a chicken right? Wallah!

Now...On to really important questions... Does anyone have a good recipe for using both the egg AND the chicken for a good party dish ?

Huevos la-orange? No...That's duck huh...

I think they've got this one! A chicken requires a chicken genome. It seems to me that you can't have a chicken without a chicken egg which has a chicken genome.

But you can have a chicken-egg without a chicken. Say you have an adult almost-chicken. The cells that make the gametes of the almost-chicken get tweaked a bit, become full-chicken genes. Then a chicken egg is formed from the almost-chicken's gametes, and becomes a full-on-chicken.

I think I posted this before, but here's a good place to start if you want to go a little bit farther than "why did the chicken cross the road?"

If you believe in God as the First Cause, the chicken came first: God created all things, living and non-living. He did not create partially-developed things; He created complete creatures.

If you believe in the "Big Bang" (and, subsequently, Evolution) as the First Cause, then the chicken and the egg existed/evolved simultaneously, each part of the whole being, first starting with simplistic, rudimentary parts of primeval lizards, dinosaurs, etc., then, over millions of years, evolved to be the common chicken of the modern day.

An egg is not a self-sustaining entity; it first develops within a mature chicken, then develops extra-chickenly, then eventually develops into a self-sustaining, mature chicken itself. So, logically, the "cycle" must have begun with a mature, self-sustaining ancestor of the chicken, from which sprang its reproductive parts, its progeny, because an egg could not sustain itself long enough to reproduce (without internal development within a mature chicken/lizard/dinosaur/etc., without warmth, protection, etc.).

You're welcome.

Actually....A hyper evolved chicken from the future came back in time and brought a couple of eggs with him.He then left them to hatch, and returned to the future.

Of course the chicken evolved from something else so the chicken came first.
