Actually I have several of them but the one that comes to mind due to a friend of mine I had not seen in a while came by and we were talking last night about our childhood and some of the things that happen back when.

When I was in the 4th grade around 12 years old we lived in a Duplex. Next door to us was a big open field nothing there. My brother and my cousin would go out and mow a baseball diamond with one of the old hand pushed mowers that had like a barrel on it which was the blades no gas or riding mower it only cut about a 2 ft width so they had to go around a few times to make it right. Of course back then we could not buy the stuff to use for home plate and the bases.

So between my grandmother that we lived with at the time and my Aunt that lived in the duplex next door to us. They gathered old worn out pillows that had seen there day and gave them to us to use so we had our bases.

With my cousins and my brother and I there was 5 of us so we would get together and before long some of the other kids in the neighborhood would join in and we would play baseball all day long.

What was funny we never thought about it back then that just because we did not have enough to make a team. It was not gonna keep us from playing and having fun anyway.

If one ever saw us in the house for the day we had to be sick or playing monopolywhoa

I have so many. Going fishing with Dad and my brother is a memory I will always cherish. I played baseball for many years growing up. I remember wanting to try out when I was 5 but my Dad wasn't up for the idea. A father of a friend talked my Dad into letting me try out. My Dad enjoyed it more than anyone. I played from the age of 5 until I was 18 years old. My Dad never missed one ballgame. I miss him so much.
