Topic: Is Music Corrupting young Girls ? | |
---|---|
I have 2 girls ages 8 and 5.
Yesterday I took them to the movies, while driving and listening to the radio they played that Beyonce song, it goes something like-------->( to the left, to the left, everything you own I,ve boxed up all of your sh**, and put it on the curb). My 8 year old knows all the words to that song, and my 5 year old quickly jumped in, I was shocked and angry, as I continue driving they played several more songs by women artist that, of course claimed they were mistreated by men. It seems to me that men are doomed from the start. |

I think they know the words, but they don't know what the words mean.
Still, you're right. Exposed to things way too early. I was really strict with my kids (now ages 13 and 17). They couldn't watch any TV or movies rated PG13 before they were 13. That was a challenge, esp. when we would go over to other peoples' homes and they were blaring R-rated in front of their toddlers. |

If I had young kids... I would'nt let them listen to some of
that music... I believe it influences many- and not just kids... Some music is just down right belittling and disqusting... Children learn what they: see, hear, and feel... JMO |

and oh by the way...
What about all that music that talks about women being nothing but B i t c h e s, hitting them etc-etc... The lyrics cut down both men and women... JMO |

It's all Elmer's fault. That's why he is buried under the garage.

Well, thats not any better either, that gangster rap music, if I had
boys they would not listen to it. But my girls are my pride and joy, just have to learn to be tuff on they. |

I was shocked at what some of my third graders know. They are about age
8 and you just have to monitor what they are listening to and try presenting alternatives. I play Motown in my classroom was delighted to hear some kids that had gone through my class singing "My Girl". |

well they do make eddited versions of cds and the only time the
radio plays uneddited versions is during non peak hours when the kids are home and stuff so the weekend is ok personally i think it is healthy b/c you can talk with them about it and make it a learning expiriance, ranther than shut them off to it and when they are with friends or at school they hear it anyways. wouldnt you rather them get the correct story from you or the hip supposed to be cool version from school, atleast if you get to them first you have the chance to change thier minds other kids will encourage them do such. |

YUP girls can be influenced by music....remember Britney Spears anyone
when she was young, and all the girls that looked like her? Or wanted to look like her? To those out there that have kids, they watch you, at least that is what I was told. They learn by watching their parents. Then, they grow up and say they don't want to be like them. |

Man..
I know that song...and I have to say I think these female artists today are teaching young girls...you don't have to take what these low life cheating abusive men dish out anymore..your better than this...you can live without them and find someone better.. just like the song by "pink" about the guy bothering her at a club when she just wants to have a good time by herself....song title along the lines of.."i'm not here for your entertainment" now the men artist...they call all woman ho's and use women as sex toys...those guys are sending bad messages... |

LOL You reap what you sow. Either be a parent who does their job and
filters these negative influences (at least calling it out for the trash it is, and not "going with the flow" as if it is acceptable just because so many other people buy into it), or let your kids become punks and skanks. Really just that simple. My kids even dare to utter that nasty gutter slang, and it is immediately jumped on by this mom. |
