Topic: Someone stole my profile | |
---|---|
My profile was found on another site by a longtime trusted friend. I am not on any other sites besides Mingle2. In fact I have never been in the past and don't really plan on being on any others in the future. This upsets me to have my profile stolen and displayed by a stranger. How can this happen? Is there a way I can prevent this? Here is the link below.
http://www.livedatelove.com/uprofile.asp?user=Soulbreeze I have another question...when my user name/dating sites is googled there is like 50+ results with my user name and a sentence from my profile from mingle2 for various locations. here is an example matthews-12Culver Speed Dating Culver Singles. Lexington Dating Site · cuddlycassanova's photo ... Soulbreeze. : 32 year old woman. ">>> witty headline inserted here <<<" ... mingle2.com/online-dating/kentucky/culver-4 why is this happening? I hope you can help. Thanks! |

it seems that someone is using your profile there. All you can do is report it to that site.
As far as user names in general, user names are not exclusive to one person. Each site has their own list of user names. |

Thanks Yellowrose, I did report it but have yet to get a response.
I know each site has their own user names but it says my name and then a line from my profile as well...like 32 year old woman and a couple of MY sentences from My profile from Mingle2! I guess it's not a big deal but wow I didn't think this would happen. Didn't even realize it until someone told me, it's not like I google myself lol. I just wish there was a way it could be deleted and only kept on this site because after all it is my personal profile just for Mingle2. thanks again yellowrose |

Mingle2 is a Google website.
Search engines pull information from publicly listed sites in order to function. If you are on the net, a search will generally pull it up. This website is public. However, they can't contact you unless they join. Your private information remains so; be aware that profiles are not hidden, so make certain that any information listed is stuff you are comfortable sharing. |

I have seen this happen a couple of other times.
For some odd reason, your profile here, if someone were to Google your user name, will show up on other sites even if you have never been anywhere NEAR those sites. It doesn't necessarily mean that the profile itself is actually there, though. I've looked my user name up and found links to other sites, but when I clicked the site links, I don't have a profile there. |

In the OP's case, the profile was really stolen and used somewhere else.

In the OP's case, the profile was really stolen and used somewhere else. I know. Just relating to her why it might show up under a Google search as being on other websites when it actually isn't. |

The other site responded to my email and said that sometimes spammers use someone's profile to register
I am glad they responded and took the profile down. I was surprised I actually got a email from them. Nice people are nice. Mean people are just....ya know...mean |
