Fox is pursuing its strategy in public, warning that its broadcasts – including college football bowl games – could go dark Friday for subscribers of Time Warner Cable, unless the pay-TV operator gives Fox higher fees. For its part, Time Warner Cable is asking customers whether it should "roll over" or "get tough" in negotiations.

it's bigger than just FOX. Its also General Electric's NBC, and CBS, and Disney.

They are all jacking up fees for retransmission of local affiliates (FOX channel as opposed to FOX News)

Sorry Willing Fox is so far right it makes those in the middle of the road seem left. Every network is to the left of Fox news. I simply do not understand why some people cannot grasp that.

you have to differentiate between FOX News and the FOX Channel here

this is talking about the access to local channels on cable systems. FOX News is already included in cable/satellite packages

this is the broadcast networks (and their subsidiaries) trying to get more money for being included in cable packages

yeah that's already a done deal

but FOX Sports and the local FOX channels might disapear form the cable line ups

and CBS and NBC and ABC might too cause they are jacking up the fees for their local channel access too

so that NFL and NBA and MLB might disapear from cable packages except for what ESPN carries

Time Warner and Cox have both said they won't pay the inflated fees and I think Dish and Direct TV have said the same

I basicly have no use for TV I would love to cancel my cable but the kiddos would revolt. My oldest is off to Kent State next year, I think I will offer top ay my youngest the 60 bucks a month if he lets me kill the cable. laugh

on one hand this could turn out to be a positive development if it forces the cable/satellite comnpanies to allow a la carte programming

right now we are forced to pay for channels that we might not watch. like Univision and Spanish language channels. Or Nick and Disney.

consumer advocates have been agitating for years for people to be able to subscribe and pay for only the channels they want

my pet peeve on that stuff right now is the NFL channel. it is considered a second tier channel so you have to pay extra to get it. and Monday Night Football going to ESPN so that it is available by subscription only also

I agree we should only have to pay for the channels we wish to have. Me for example am forced to have Fox news in my cable package and it rubs me the wrong way to be forced to subsadize a network I am moraly opposed to. Others may feel the same of MSNBC yet we have no choice but to pay the piper.

Robert Murdoch is an expert at political propaganda.
He had refined his skills years before coming to the US.

In Australia, Turkey, Italy, and Britain he has faced many lawsuits for anti-trust and anti-competitive business practices.

Also, in Australia he was accused of unethical influence in elections.

He only became a US citizen to satisfy legislation that only United States citizens could own American television stations.
This also resulted in Murdoch losing his Australian citizenship.

Shut them down.
They are only a tool being used to destroy American Sovereignty and pave the road to a global government.

I have often wondered what Fox news viewers are like. Are they rich or poor old or young? retired or collage students? No offence to anyone but my gut tells me they are the stay at home crowd. Just about every study done showes people are leaveing the network news programs and print news for the internet. Myself for example when I have time to catch up with the news I jump online. I neither watch CNN or MSNBC and of course not Fox unless its for kicks and giggles. My circumstances as a single parent involve my Mother staying the night at my house when I go to work on third shift. She comes over each and every night and gets my kids off to school with a hot breakfast... anyhow.. she is a fox news addict and when I get home Fox is on my TV! My poor Mom is a nervouse wreck due to her fox news exposure! I bite my tounge and the minute she leaves I turn it off before I implode. My mother reads the news paper and never ever has spent a minute in front of a computer. though I love her dearly and she is a fantastic woman her view of the world however is neandrathol. She thinks Obama isnt an american and is against universal health care even though she is on medicair and draws my fathers union pension she is a republican. She lost over a hundred and fifty thousand in the Bush years in her 401K and her home lost value as well. To keep the harmony I never discuss politics with her but I speculate she is a typical fox viewer

It's a Conservative Propaganda tool.
Robert Murdoch is a longtime Conservative.
Their truth is all that matters.

I am honestly begining to think that we have two factions of a business party in umerika, the conservative and the liberal. When its all said and done both parties are pro business in differant ways. the dems tend to think its better for business when consumers have money to spend and the rethuglicans think its best if we get trickled down on. I tend to lean democrat due to their not steller but better than repug views on the environment, workers rights and some social repsonsability. back to painting check in when I need a coffee break.

The FCC first ruled Murdoch couldn't own FOX. It's illegal for a Non-American to own a major Broadcast provider in the US.
Then reversed it's ruling, waving the law saying it was in the public's best interests.

Sounds suspicious to me. I've been trying to find who exactly influenced the decision, but when they hide behind the FCC it is hard to pinpoint any individual precisely.

Obviously who ever they are is Republican.
