Would you determine what to report based strictly upon what was profitably newsworthy, or would you report with integrity?

My mom and I had this discussion about how the determination is made. Why when Brad and Angie have fallings out involving the police(as married older couple) they dont get the press that then teenager Chris Brown and Rihanna received? Or why when Charlie Sheen gets arrested for domestic abuse, he is assumed innocent but when Tiger has an accident in his car,, he is assumeed the adulterer? Who determines what life those in the public eye should live and who has the right to put them on a symbolic cross for public execution if they fall short?

YOUR ABSULUTELY RIGHT ITS BECAUSE THERE WHITE . DAM THEM . STINKING RACIST . AND OFCOURSE I KNOW if you don't agree with what i write i no longer have my integrity in tack , and yet your not a bigot .

did you mean to quote me? I said nothing about race, nor did I attack your integrity,,,, perhaps your own conscious slipping in,,,,?

NO just don't have any guilt and don't like your comparison which was white and the crimes were not even close to equal .

The comparisons were about the difference between coverage of some 'crimes'( if we are counting infidelity a crime) of a domestic nature and others. The fact that I chose Tiger and Chris,,well they were big stories this year. I am sorry you pulled the race out of that,,but my question still stands...

How is it determined which stories are newsworthy and which arent, because it obviously isnt just about evidence or the charges leveled...the public speculation varies from case to case and Im not sure why,,,,so I asked...

Could have been, Tiger was more sensational and could be played out longer. Mo money, isn't that pretty much always the bottom line?

So, someone determines who is the most 'Famous' at the time and they become the sacrificial lamb? ....could be

So why is it so much more newsworthy, do ya think, when people are unfaithful in their relationships(as more than fifty percent of americans are) than when they risk the lives of others driving drunk?

The list of Celebs doing that is pages long,,they even get their own tv show with a doctor to 'help' them. I just wonder where our societies priorities are heading sometimes. If media is any indicator, Id say down the tubes.

We've sold our soul to the devil.
And,
The devil is Hollywood.

OMGosh,,,,I am not one to be paranoid, but when I really think about it,, you may have hit the nail on the head,

but that makes me ponder

does art (media) imitate life,, or vice versa...?

Pop goes the morality of the country.
The more we see the more common it becomes, the more everyday and normal it seems.

Popularity is the call.

I find MSNBC to be the best news source...Olbermann is sharp, Maddow will take on good causes.

I find FOCKS to be the worst...they are more inclined to stress over absurd clebrity news as a decoy to real news....and of course they LIE 24/7...See the doc called Outfoxed...ya gotta see a propaganda machine at work..WOW.

I'm with you on this Middle Earth. PBS is good too LadyLid.
I would agree too, that the news goes with what sells. In an ideal world, we would be able to see anything and everything that goes on in the world, but could you handle it?
