However, our efforts might be in vain, due to the forces beyond of our control:

................. here's an exerpt from Science Daily:
"Recent scientific breakthroughs have shown that most of the matter in the universe -- about four-fifths -- is NOT made up of atoms, but of something else, called 'dark matter,'" said Howard Baer, FSU's J.D. Kimel Professor of Physics. "The evidence for dark matter is now overwhelming, and the required amount of dark matter is becoming precisely known."

Baer explained that dark matter is believed to exist in the form of tiny particles that do not interact with light. Because they don't emit or reflect electromagnetic radiation the way atomic, or baryonic, matter does, these dark matter particles haven't been directly observed. However, scientists have long theorized their existence based on their gravitational effects on visible matter throughout the universe.

"For example, the gravitational effect of dark matter makes galaxies spin faster than one would otherwise expect," Baer said. "Also, dark matter's gravitational field distorts the light of objects behind it -- creating the so-called 'lensing effect.' By measuring these sorts of phenomena, we can tell that the universe is full of some sort of 'stuff' that we just can't see."

* * * Despite this progress, the exact identity of dark matter remains a mystery. * * * * * * *

Wimps are the best shot at dark matter but no one knows (Weak Interacting Massive Particles). There are some good youtube vids on the topic.

The estimates of dark matter vary from 75% to 96% of all the matter in our universe.

Could it be we are approaching the state of a complete ENTROPY???

Well, tomorrow is the big day. The "powers that be" are supposed to put the actual plan of action decided at the Copenhagen conference in writing by tomorrow.

There are a lot of folks waiting for us to

"Show them the money!"

So true. But more like cattle.

Frankly, I don't comprehend this state of powerlessness! WHY? ? ?

Actually, the Global Warming may be caused by Solar activity:

Ice cups on Mars have already melted...

Nope, its not the sun.

Skeptical Argument Mars is warming:

http://www.skepticalscience.com/global-warming-on-mars.htm
Conclusion

The empirical evidence isn't conclusive on whether global warming is happening on Mars. However, to answer the question on whether the sun is causing Earth's global warming, there is plentiful data on solar activity and Earth's climate. Many papers have examined this data, concluding the correlation between sun and climate ended in the 70's when the modern global warming trend began.

So the argument that Martian warming disproves anthropogenic global warming fails on two points - there is little empirical evidence that Mars is warming and Mars' climate is primarily driven by dust and albedo, not solar variations.

I think, even though its a weak agreement and not much will come of it, it is prolly a pretty good incremental step

the climate change thing and management of wastes and emissions is getting more and nore implanted in the world, the people, and the governments conciousness

it took us a hundred years to get into this position and will take several years or decades to get out of it

so every incremental step forward is a bonus

Wisely spoken.

and hundreds more to complete what actually needs to be done. Small steps allow one to journey and still enjoy the beauty of the earth.

I just saw an interesting show about Germany. The German government decided some years ago that the country needed to start moving away from fossil fuels towards nonrenewables like solar. They issued a program with the power companies that said everyone has to pay $0.20 a kilowatt-hr for electricity (a little more that we pay in the states) but anyone who produced solar power would be paid $0.50 a kilowatt-hr. The goal was to have the country 20% solar. Many at the time said that goal was impossible.

Germany is now approaching 30% solar powered and has also developed a large profitable solar panel industry.

The population who is paying more for their electricity accept it knowing it is good for their health, county, and the planet.

If only more people would just accept the practicality of diversified renewable power and get over the misnomer that cheaper is always better when it comes to resources.

I noticed I made a typo in my original post. Solar is a renewable, not a nonrenewable.

The balance that nature is able to strike between absorption and emission of the problematic gasses is reaching a threshold.

Its lame this movement of deniers, lame and tragic.
