I should probably know the answer to this, but how do you remove an unkown chemical?

I have something on my computer, I think a chemical from work was on my hands and now it's on my computer. It's a white substance that won't come off with water. How should I remove it?

When I wipe my computer with water, it disappears, when the water dries, the white substance is still there. I forget what it could be.

Nevermind, I used soap.

If nothing else fails take it to the car wash and use the wand on it.

I own a carpet cleaning company, have you tried a warm rag with dish soap? Fels Naptha is the bomb, I spend $40-$80 a gallon for cleaning products and sometime Fels Naptha is the only thing that works.

Where kind of work do you do?

I tried soap and water, it only got a little off. I do circuit board plating, so I work with all kinds of chemicals. I forgot to ask the people in the chem. lab about it. I'm sure they would know.

I might try Updawgs idea and just take it to the car wash.

In most cases, distilled water, if you're concerned about unexpected chemical reactions. If the substance is of the diatomic variety, oops, but entertaining.

Well my only concern is if it's acid. I don't want to have it eat away at my computer, it doesn't seem like it has, it just won't go away.
