Topic: Christmas Legend | |
---|---|
Through a howling forest,
on a freezing winter night, reindeer flounder in the snow. Santa and his presents are burrowed down deep stuck in weather that’s 40 below. Mistletoe whips by barely missing their eyes, as it’s driven by harsh screaming winds. Oh woe unto them, it’s nearly Christmas again and they’re blocked by a downed gingerbread tree! Icicles glare with frozen faced stares. No help will they offer this man. Santa begins dreaming of hot cocoa that’s steaming imagining the warmth in his hands. (Now, you know he has magic, so this story’s not tragic, at least, that’s what I was told.) As the tree catches that warm cocoa scent, it stands straight as a chimney and dances a tree version lindy, clearing a path through this rough wonderland. Yes, this Holiday is saved! The man, reindeer, and sleigh now fly every year through the sky. Many legends and stories tell Santa’s tribulations and glories and this is but one of those tales. The gingerbread tree, I most definitively can see, sparks more than a smidgen of doubts -- Yet, I ask you, where else would we find wood for that gingerbread house? |

Poor old santa sweats up a storm coming to this part of the world once a year... |
