"Alone" and "lonely" have two different meanings.

Just because someone is "alone" doesn't mean they're "lonely".

The best way of dealing with being "alone" during the holidays
is to be around family and friends. In that regard, you're not
alone or lonely.

Why not call up a friend and hook up for the festivities - it's
not necessary to be romantically involved!

I try to put on a happy face and do what I can to stay busy. Doesn't make sense to bring others down or punish myself for how things are.
A good attitude generally brings back a good attitude from others.

I find comfort in the idea that even Jesus's parents probably felt very alone and overwhelmed on his day of birth but life goes on and it is the little kindnesses sometimes that make the biggest difference.

While I tend to make invitations for others to join me I will say it is a good thing to accept the ones that are offered. Sometimes it will start off a great friendship and happy memories.

Especially if you make yourself a courteous guest who doesn't take advantage of the invitation. Getting drunk and acting like a horndog at a Christmas party can pretty much guarantee you won't have any invites for Valentines.

I jumped back in late here so forgive me if I missed something but...as far as I was involved with this question it was not about being with out a relationship...

It is about spending a holiday alone, and trust me I have - totally alone (because of the one when even my phone was down)

If one has family and friends to be with, ...this would not be a thread/question.

This is not, to my mind about being with a love interest/partner but rather being ALONE.
