Shows no signs of letting up. I've been walking every night for 3 or 4 miles. I'm thinking sidewalks won't be cleared and I can see myself falling on my azz. I'm thinking by the time I get done shoveling-probably two hours, I'm not going to feel like a walk. Probably a good hot chocolate with marshmallows and something a little stronger to warm my insides when I'm done.bigsmile

I'm thinking snow day.  They say 4 - 7 inches here. We already have 4- I'm thinking. Would be a great day for a snowball fight.

Is an internship in Hawaii looking appealing right now?

I wouldn't be either. I used to commute 60 miles every day to MSU way back when. Stick to the highways and be prepared-boots, gloves, hat, blanket, kitty litter(if you get stuck), flashlight and your cell phone.

You would love Hawaii.love I've been there twice.

Never been to Hawaii. frown

Don't worry... I'll be prepared... and will go slow... I only know the highways out to Lansing... so no worries about that!

Good, I hate to admit I am not a good driver when it comes to snow and ice. I usually zig, when I should have zagged.

I don't like driving in heavy snow... but overall, I am a good driver.

Use to be a pizza delivery girl! Can drive in just about anything... and can back out of any driveway!

Then I need some tips. My driveway at my new house is right next to the house and there's a fence on the other side. It's narrow and I usually have to stop and straighten out once before I make it to the end. Pathetic, I know. I could never drive a big rig. Everyone says trust the mirrors but I still find myself turning my neck around.

When I first started out... I didn't trust the mirrors and did it by sight... now that I am older... I can use the mirrors.

It might help if you put up reflectors along your drive if it's long... or at the end.

Do whatever you feel most comfortable doing.

I'll try the mirrors again...right after I get my eyes checked firstlaugh

The reflectors make me think old people. I'm not willing to give into that yet.scared

Owen is being evaluated at school... they just had me take an assessment... which of course the school social worker told me it was for 'attentional'... I know it was an assessment for ADD/ADHD. I am frown ... didn't think that I would have a hard time, if he eventually got that diagonsis... but even taking just the assessment is affecting me. sad

It's not the end of the world. I've had it all my life. Research it. Don't let the stigma effect how you look at it.

It isn't about stigma. It's about being a parent... knowing about it.. and knowing how it will effect his life to be 'labeled'

I know all about it! I have a have a bachelor's degree in social work with a minor in child psychology.

(And what I wrote here is nice... don't ever tell a parent 'it's not the end of the world, when they are concerned about their children!)

I'm not a parent, but I do know parents that have children who are affected by ADHD, ADD, and etc. To someone like me, who sees it from the outside, you want to encourage the parent who's child could be affected by these diseases (best word I could come up with). But to the parents, it is a whole new ballgame to have your own child being tested for ADHD/ADD. You yourself feel like you have let your child down, and you look back on your life and your parenting life to try to find answers as to why your own flesh and blood could suffer from such a thing.

Dict8, I am sure you meant well with your response, but in a way it did come off as a bit harsh. To Tanya, it isn't about being the end of the world. No doubt if she finds out Owen has this, she will take steps to treat it. But what it is about is how she feels right now. She is worried about her son, and she feels that she let him down (or close to something like that). Look at it from her point of view man.

As I said, I am sure you meant well, and that you are only trying to pep Tanya up.

I really meant no harm. Just the opposite. Didn't mean for it to sound harsh at all. Sorry T...flowerforyou
