William is a pure classic and the original long version of How soon is now was on the b side of the 12" vinyl.
Im not sure how there seen in the US but you`ll always get that with bands who say and do what they want and The Smiths stood out for that.
Here people assume yr gay if ya' dig The Smiths. It's stupid. This is the land of Lynrd Skynrd, ya' know. Anything smart is threatening!

Threatening is good... everything is too safe now, im sure Lynard has had a dance round the campfie to This Charming Man
laugh I just had a crazy vision of that! God! How bout' a slow dance to "Death Of A Disco Dancer?"drinker

laugh we cant have that, you dont want to ruin the guys reputation

I saw WIRE once in Chicago. Their opening band was called " Ex-Lion Tamers" & they performed WIRE's "Pink Flag" lp note for note. Very strange.

So, The Smiths is great. I was listening to them once in the player at work and when asked what we were listening to I responded, "The greatest band to ever play music, ever," which, I realized quickly, wasn't quite an exaggeration.

Of course, I don't think my boss much appreciated Morrissey's views on his jobs.

Or, you know, "I was looking for a job and then I found a job and heaven knows I'm miserable now"

And later on:

"In my life why do I smile at people who I'd much rather kick in the eye?"
