The older generation never likes the younger generation. Articles like this appear every 10 years or so. I happen to be rather fond of this younger generation..I relate better with my son's friends than I do their parents. |

If I mention a record to anyone younger than 20 they just stare at me like I said a bad word. "You know, those large vinyl discs that you listened to before CDs" |

Speaking of records! I still have my record collection started from when I was a kid and alot of them are from punk rock. So I found a Ramones CD on sale, one that I have on vinyl but never knew was in CD form. So I buy it and slap it into my car stereo.
And the CD sounds like crap! I like my record better ![]() |

The older generation never likes the younger generation. Articles like this appear every 10 years or so. Damn it! This article is about a book written by a Psychologists. It's filled with interviews and the results of tests taken by members of the Me Generation. The tests show the narcissist tendencies, and in the interviews they admit freely to such. The group consists of ages between 18 and 30. I'd say it could even go to 35. And excuse me but, are parents supposed to be parents or friends to their children? Children should love their parents. Not hang out with them. There is a difference you know. By being their friend (not just loved as a parent) might just be a cause to the problem. |

I can be friends with them if I choose. Worry about your own parenting skills... 2 of my sons and I are going to a movie and dinner tonight, would this be hanging out.... |

just what is a generation? my brother and i are two years apart and obviously were born of the same mother and father so you could say that we are a generation separated from our parent's generation. i had my daughter when i was nineteen and she is forty one now. bro had his daughter in his late thirties and his daughter is now 20. my grandaughter was born to my daughter at that time and she likewise is age 20. so which generation does my grandaughter and neice belong to. they're the same age but are they of the same generation? if different generations, is the earlier generation considered more worldly and mature? you'd never guess such knowing my grandaughter and niece.

I don't really know, but my parents had 9 kids, separated by 20 years. I think we are considered one generation. Between us we have 38. separated by about 25 years. What is a generation? Good question. I know I could never hang out with people 20 -25 years my junior. The maturity issues would seem very strange. |

What year we are born has very little to do with WHO each of us are. |

About 5 yrs ago I was dating this woman with a 15 yr old daughter.
One day she was talking about some parents who were arguing with their child. Trying to make the child do right. She made the comment about how her and her daughter never argued. They were best friends she said. Well, knowing this woman, I realized that in fact they never did argue. Of course the reasons were evident to me. She let the 15 yr old do what ever she wanted. Boys were allowed to sleep over. (in the same room) She had no curfew. She and her friends could drink and even smoke Pot in the house. The 15 yr old and her mother never argued. Why would they? There was never any parenting going on! I dumped her! |

Here is what the Author Jean Twinge says; About the Book Who is part of Generation Me? Generation Me describes anyone born in the 1970s, 1980s, or 1990s -- in 2006, this means people between the ages of 7 and 36. These are today's young people, those who take it for granted that the self comes first. I'm a member of this generation myself, born in 1971. http://www.generationme.org/aboutbook.html |

She had to be a democrat! ok, as a democrat, I resent that statement. I have hsaid numerous times the easiest attitude to take with others,, family or not, is that you dont care as long as they are happy. I think people who say it can just put a period behind the word care. |
