My softball team is preparing for another season, but this morning we
were told by the new manager that we could no longer drink beer in the
dugout.
The whole team may quit, should we go on strike.

I guess it would be according to which you like better, beer or
softball. Are there young kids at the game? That may be part of the
reason. You could always save the beer til after the game.

well, we,ve always done it, kids are in the stands, and they sell it
there.

I was on a softball league once. I filled a big 35 gallon thermos with
water and ice. August can be very hot and humid here. The other team
brought beer.

By the 4th inning we were losing 6-2, that's when the other team started
REALLY drinking.

By the 6th inning we were winning 9-6, BTW we were sober enough to do
the 4 basics of baseball/softball:

1. Run
2. Hit
3. Throw
and most importantly
4. See straight emough to catch a thrown or hit ball

I do not have any problem with cracking a few beers AFTER the game, but
we employed that tactic all season and came in second to the only other
sober team

Why would you want to play sober ????

it would seem to me that the idea behind playing an active sport in the
summer sun is staying hydrated you did mention that the reason you guys
like to drink beers is because its "hot out there" well, what about ice
water? you'll perform better!

Maybe, be since the name of our team is the dirtbags, it would,nt make
much sense to be sober.

Take the TEAM and start it under another team name and Dump the Coach

That's almost as bad as shotting 18 holes with out a case present for
the crew

Fire your manager. If it's a rec leauge you should be able to drink beer
espically when the games gets out of hand and you are down bt 15 runs,
It might be because of the drinking but who cares. IT'S A REC
LEAUGE.
