A Few Good Men:
Col. Jessup- "I run my unit how I run my unit. You want to investigate me, roll the dice and take your chances. I eat breakfast 300 yards from 4000 Cubans who are trained to kill me, so don't think for one second that you can come down here, flash your badge, and make me nervous!" Might be scary, but it is intimidating line that Nicholson delivers in only the way he can. |

Scary, TO ME, in how much thought it provokes.
Minister: "Everything is more complicated than you think. You only see a tenth of what is true. There are a million little strings attached to every choice you make; you can destroy your life every time you choose. But maybe you won't know for twenty years. And you may never ever trace it to its source. And you only get one chance to play it out. Just try and figure out your own divorce. And they say there is no fate, but there is: it's what you create. And even though the world goes on for eons and eons, you are only here for a fraction of a fraction of a second. Most of your time is spent being dead or not yet born. But while alive, you wait in vain, wasting years, for a phone call or a letter or a look from someone or something to make it all right. And it never comes or it seems to but it doesn't really. And so you spend your time in vague regret or vaguer hope that something good will come along. Something to make you feel connected, something to make you feel whole, something to make you feel loved. And the truth is I feel so angry, and the truth is I feel so ****ing sad, and the truth is I've felt so ****ing hurt for so ****ing long and for just as long I've been pretending I'm OK, just to get along, just for, I don't know why, maybe because no one wants to hear about my misery, because they have their own. Well, **** everybody. Amen." Synecdoche, New York. |

Go ahead punk, make my day.
It's the person (Clint) and the gun that make it scary. |

Haha.
I've seen all five of the "Dirty Harry" series. Favorites of mine. I think the scarier portion of that quote is in his introduction as he holds the Magnum up at the man's face, - "I know what you're thinking..." |

And the look on Clints face. He has a way of making the viewer believe that he's gonna do it.

Oh, mad love, Calleigh. You always support my posts. I'm a movie fiend so I'll throw the next one out there. The scene in "No Country for Old Men" when the killer is paying for gas. At this point in the movie there hasn't been a single individual who has seen him and not been killed by his hands. To give him a chance to survive the killer flips a coin and says, "Call it." He doesn't explain what's really at stake. The gas station clerk says, "Well, I didn't put nothing up." And this terrifying killer, calm and calculatively says, "Yes. Yes you have. You've been putting it up your whole life - you just didn't know it." I'd advise anyone interested who hasn't seen that brilliant film to watch it - if for nothing else to seem if it is heads or tails. First one I thought of when I read the question, excellent scene,Friendo. Another one: What's in the box? What's in the f*ckin' box? " SEVEN |
