Who is to say what a quality life is. and people do all types of things to assure their own. IF her life was lacking the quality she thought it should have and she thought it was due to her looks, it is sad but how is it different than , lets say, determining an unborn child is better off dead than living unwanted?

BTW, I think both situations are sad, deaths from plastic and deaths in the womb.

Ok..so I was reading about a 38yr old former beauty queen that died after complications from plastic surgery that she got done [snipped]

Very tragic, indeed !

You can find many other negative, though not fatal,
effects of plastic surgery (Jocelyn Wildenstein is the
all-time favorite of the website):

I do think it is so sad that this womann died from a very simple operation. I will admit I have thought about it. Then I also discarded it just about as quick.

My Breasts nursed 4 children so they aren't supposen to look as they did when I was a teenager.
My butt isn't as tight as it was in my 20's
I have some fine wrinkles growing and I earned each and everyone of them

I decided I earned the right to age as naturally as I can so I can scare the heck out kids on halloween.

and, u are beautiful.....I have tumors in my belly which need to be removed and cause it to be bloated,,its not comfortable, after they are removed, I plan to have surgery to tighten the abdominal skin that will be left hanging as a result. Its more about restoring what I had then inventing what I didnt have.

I've seen a lot of surgeries, emergent, required and elective.
None for me thank you, and don't want any if it can be avoided.

Heavens!

On the average, ten to twenty women in America die in a car accident or a drug overdose as they are on their way to the local make-up counter. Many leave childen and a lot of rear end behind.

If someone can't get beautiful by simply screaming at her kids, or by talking to their own mother on the phone for two hours, then... learn to live with ugliness, and leave it the heck alone!...

I had my appendix out. That was enough for me. I knew after that I would never have elective surgery.

Ok..so I was reading about a 38yr old former beauty queen that died after complications from plastic surgery that she got done..on her rear end!..This woman was a mother of 2..and they've lost her because she needed perfection!..I've gone under the knife to have life saving surgeries more times than I care to remember and know all about the risks..and people are electively going under the knife and risking life and limb..for beauty..the world is insane!..If your "problems" can't be fixed with a trip to your local make up counter..just deal with it..and leave it the heck alone!..ok..done venting now..lmao.
  This was very sad to read,,and I know many , some here and some through life,,who have had much HELP,,with changing them,,and it will ALWAYS scare me to WARN them,,,NOT TO,,,but
THEY still,,,,,,,do it anyway...
I have been honest with them,,and tell them,,,their really great looking,,,and still,,,not enough,,for them to NOT GO THROUGH with what their having changed,,,,,VANITY,,,and PEOPLES perceptions ,in their minds,,,,TO BE!flowerforyou

Her poor kids...

I have no personal problem with people striving for change to feel better about what they look like. We are all vain in some way...

But like anything else, too much of a good thing can be bad. I wonder how many other surgeries the woman had before the butt surgery?

A c-section isn't elective surgery though. If I needed surgery for health reasons, I would do it. But, I won't have elective surgery.

That is very sad. Our society has always been based on youth and beauty, this is nothing new. The supermodel's, the Playboy bunnies living in Hugh's mansion. Being beautiful and "perfect" has always been a ticket to a life of wealth and attention. Sad that so many are so hung up on the outer..
will always be that way. Thank God for the 40's when ya just come to terms with the changes and roll with it, some of us anyway. If I could have the flawless face and body of a 25 year old and have to give up my 49 year old mind, I would pass.

I agree, but I understand the temptation. At this point I consider my surgery to be restorative but some might consider it elective(the surgery to restore my tummy elasticity after the tumors are removed),, thats actually the question the insurance company will answer.

It really scares me with all the young girls that are getting a false idea on what real beauty is. Dove soap has a video that is a real eye opener as to how much work and retouching goes into an advertisement photos

Well plastic surgery is not for me but I'm not going to look down on someone who opts for it. My only concern is like anything else it is additive to some people. But then there is a whole other issue there. Many time it is the way some people look at themselves & no matter what they are not happy with what they see.

I was just reading this story from a link on facebook. I said "Daddy, why did mommy die? Well kids, she wanted a bigger and firmer behind because she was obsessed with her looks".

Very sad for her two 8 year old twins.
