How anyone interpret the religious teachings depend on what the state and the nation enforces, and the general education and intelligence of the people living within. Religion can be used as a weapon or used as a peacemaker.

The only way to change is peaceful ways, such as educating as many as possible and allowing as much as possible information given to the public without restrictions.

Level of intelligence is the deal breaker, low education can turn anyone into an extremist, regardless of which religion we are talking about and it's clearly obvious, no matter where you go.
