Did they both go a bit over the top for performances being watched by families?

I thought Janets mini second of a faux pa was hardly noticable but people got up in arms about it to the point she felt a need to apologize for it. On the other hand, Adams performance had several minutes of one suggestive action after another and there hasnt been much press surrounding it and probably, I can guess, will be no apology either.

I discussed with someone else, how interesting it is how many more people seem to be offended by the human body than by what was once considered 'sexually suggestive or crude" behavior. I love Adams vocals but I felt his performance was not appropriate for that venue.....what do you think?

I didn't even watch............

lol,,,to recap. During a halftime NFL show janet jackson and justin timberlake did a routine to a pre approved song which had the repeated lyrics 'gonna have you naked by the end of this song'. At the end of said routine, JT pulled one side of janets shirt off revealing a nipple pasty and plenty of breast,,the incident lasted a millisecond and unless you went back and paused it you wouldnt have even been sure you saw it. The public went nuts to the point that (noone involved BUT) Janet apologized.

Flash forward to this weekend at the AMA. Adam Lambert closed the show with a performance of a song called'for your entertainment' with the repeated lyrics 'its about to get rough for you'. During his performance, he went from one dancer to the next doing things like rubbing his crotch in their face, holding their hair while pumping his hips in their face, and open mouth kissing a male dancer. So far,, not alot of press on this. Adam says he was pushing the envelope and making a statement, so Im sure there will be no apology either.

I did watch the Superbowl but my kiddo was much younger. Luckily we did not watch the AMA's this year as she's 7 and certainly would have asked questions. I heard about the performance and I'm glad I did not watch.

Did you feel janets and justins performance was offensive and age inappropriate? Do you think Adams was?

I did see some flack on the news about Adam Lambert. And he responded about double standards, how 2 gals can do faux sex, but people are queered about about 2 guys.
But, regardless, THIS CRAP OF DOING ANYTHING SEXUAL on these shows is getting really old. Not sexy. They are just going for the shock value to be remembered. It just makes me remember they are whores and not to buy their music and to avoid them at any venue.

I think J&J's was inappropriate but perhaps of an accidental nature. I didn't see Adams but from what I hear, yes, his AND Madonna and Brittanys on the MTV (?) awards was inappropriate.

OK...Yes I remember the Super Bowl incident....and I did watch a clip of Adam Lambert for about ten seconds, it was poor quality........
I think it was the venues that made part of the difference....and Adam kept his clothes on.
I don't think that many people saw Adam Lambert...and really don't care.

But much of what passes as entertainment is vulgar and crude.

but on the ohter hand and cant remember who said this but they defined art as.... "gettting talked about mentioned or noticed" so even as crude or vulgar or not new as his performance was it is being talked about and noticed....

think it might have been andy warhol that said that about art...
help me out if i wrong

I watched the music awards. Thought it was great.I did miss the begining, so I missed Janet, so can't comment on that.As for Adam preformance..well thats just Adam.Really it's all about getting noticed with what ever means it takes.Show Biz..sheesh..Sad to say some feel sexual gesters, help get what they want.As for Adams talent, personally I think he's amazing and fresh, with rock and roll.

I agree, excellent talent, but WRONG venue for a political statement about his sexual preference.

I totally agree. I understand the underlying reason for the performer(standing out, being remembered, being talked about). I just felt it was inconsiderate of the audience watching the AMA. It may have been more appropriate at the VMA.
