As an avid practitioner of meditation, I absolutely believe it can raise
our personal levels of vibration. Anyone who has sat with a group of
Buddhists while chanting also understands this.
Do you feel that if enough people were to meditate together on love and
peace that it could have an effect on our world...or at least the group
meditating and those nearest to them? Can we affect others vibration by
raising our own?

I have to pick up enough crap that falls off of my shelves, I don't need any more vibrations running through my house than the ones created by the trucks that go by.

I would say of course we can. In fact, teachers, or those who have the bent for it, merely by being near you, can raise your own vibrations to match their own. Also, Buddhists seldom chat. They do chant though.

Maybe I'm not getting the right idea here, but on the other hand one must be careful.

It's like I told my mother to stop praying for me. Most people think that by doing so, they are helping. What really happens is they ask for the wrong thing, and make things worse. The point I'm trying to make is make damn certain you know that you are raising the levels to the right ones. Maybe you don't need to raise the vibration, you might need to lower it.

As the old adage goes, becareful what you ask for, you just might get it.

The universe is sacred.
You cannot improve it.
If you try to change it, you will ruin it.
If you try to hold it, you will lose it.
Sometimes things are ahead.
Sometimes things are behind.
Sometimes breathing is easy.
Sometimes breathing is hard.
Sometimes there is strength.
Sometimes there is weakness.
Sometimes one is up.
Sometimes one is down.

Under heaven one can see beauty,
only because there is ugliness
Under heaven one can know good,
only because there is evil.
Long and short contrast one another.
High and low rest upon one another.
Front and back follow one another.

(From the Tao Te Ching)

fair enough Abra...is it still possible to use this method to change our lives, raise our own vibrations, alter our personal experience...

We affect/effect others with our own attitude, aura, or projection every day all the time, so of course people together can affect/effect their environment especially other live forms.

Well, I certainly wouldn't want to discourage anyone from attempting to spread feelings of goodness, love, or well-being throughout the community, the land, or even the world.

I believe in the power of positive thoughts and good vibrations.

But at the same time, I've seen examples of people that positive thoughts and good vibrations seem to have no affect on. So the only thing I would suggest is to accept that there are limitations.

Pehaps the Tao needs to have it's highs and lows to exist?

By creating extreme love and peace in one place, you my have the unfortunate side-affect of creating extreme hostilities to occur in another. Kind of like squeezing the air from one side of a balloon forcing it to move over to the other side.

The only thing I can offer is that if you listen to the news it's going to seem like the world is 90% evil and only 10% good. But I can assure you that this is an extreme illusion brought about by the very nature of the news media itself. In the real world it's more like 90% good and only 10% evil.

So relax and realize that things aren't as bad as they might seem to be.

Another who understands the point I'm attempting to make....
I do know that my actions affect how my boys react..and their moods affect mine. I feel we have much more power than most realize. It's easier to not have to own any of it if we choose not to believe it...

Please explain what you mean by "personal level of vibration".

Please define your usage of vibration, and please explain why you believe it exists.

I agree with you. I meditate regularly, and am a student of psychology. When I meditate with others, I feel like we connect in a profound and unique way. Our current level of science can't explain memories that drift between us, or the kind of shared experience that meditation can produce. For me, meditation is not just a way for individuals, but for all sentient life to transcend. I believe we are moving ever closer; unity calls... Please listen.

I don't understand how someone could be so antisocial as to ignore the "vibrations" which are obvious to me, and so many others... Is it the way we're wired, fear of interconnectedness, or a combination of the two? Either way, the effect is the same. To those who doubt the existence of the "vibrations", I encourage you to meditate more often, and find a group to work with.

Let us work together and make the world a more beautiful place. Love.

I am not doubting the existence of what you say just that you are using words in a manner inconsistent with their definitions. Since I am not familiar with the definitions you are using I merely would like them explained.
